The Complete Book Of Ferrets by Nicholas Brown and Val Porter is a good one, they've stopped making the book now because it's old (it's older than me) but you can buy second hand ones on eBay and Amazon, it's available normal and hardback. @poncesmom I have the same toy ferret in that photo of yours, Vinnie likes to play with it, I think he thinks that it's another ferret

All of the ferret books written by Simon Whitehead are good ones to read too

@frolickingferrets that's cute that Vinnie likes it. Mine love to have me waggle it in front of them.
Here's my two additions to the Book Club:
All about Ferrets and Rats by Adolph Issacsen, written in 1886
Farley the Ferret of Farkleberry Farm by Patricia Derrick. This is a children's book but comes complete with a DVD that discusses the black footed ferret conservation program.

This is the story that started it all. Seriously, if I hadn't read this, I probably wouldn't have a ferret and would remain sadly ignorant of their wonderful little (big) personalities! The ferret appears halfway through the story if you want to skip to that. It's set in the White Collar universe: Peter is an FBI agent and Neal is the brilliant thief he caught and who is now helping him on his cases. archiveofourown.org/works/1591484

Does it come with an off button?! That's too funny. I'm going have to look into ferrets for dummies, I've heard it mentioned a few times now and I like those books.

My ferret "bibles" are: Ferret for dummies (just love the way it is written) Biology and Diseases of Ferret (2nd and 3rd ed.); J. Fox Ferret Husbandry, Medicine and Surgery 2nd; J.Lewington
Right now I am anjoying in reading F. Shimbo's A Tao Full of Detours
Than there are more medical books like: 5minutes vet. consult Ferrret & Rabbits; BSAVA manual on Ferrets; Ferrets, Rabbits, and Rodents: Clinical Medicine and Surgery, 3e; and a bunch of other veterinary oriented books and other literature.
I really enjoyed reading Ferret magazine while it was still around in paper edition.

Fun read with some very good information: A tao Full of Detours, the Behaviour of the Domestic Ferret by Fara M. Shimbo. It was out of print, has come back out as an ebook and I think is now back in print. All of Shimbos books were out of print. It's a lot of old school information but a lot of common sense and lost information. A fun read The book Polecats by Johnny Birks is an interesting read if your interested in the history and distribution and reintroduction of the UK polecat ciao
