I am sure this has been thought of before, perhaps there are reason why it not implemented.
I was thinking that it would be cool to have a section under "show us your weasels" maybe called Ferret profiles or something like that. where there could be a thread for each and every ferret where pics are posted of just that ferret. I think it would keep is organized so if someone was enamored with one particular ferret (I love them all) they could look through the post and see photos of just that ferret. It could even be cute like mimic a personal add on a dating site, with a bio of the ferret and profile pics.
Just a thought.

Sometimes people will refer to a ferret by name. It would be great to look up that name to get refreshed about the ferret. would also help to keep a log of feeding, behavior issues, ect to help for someone to get a little history about the ferret before replying about a new question. There are some many ferrets it is hard to keep all their names straight. Think of it like a blog for each ferret, The thread title can be ferretname/ferretowner Any information change can be put in the inital post (re-edited as new info about the ferret happens) that way all the history about the ferret can be on the first post so you do not have to read through pages to read about the latest heath/behavior problem. Any photos could be in the following posts. reply could be disabled to keep the thread clean and full of important ferret info. For instance this could be helpfull if someone asks a question about their ferret being itchy, and in the ferret profile could contain info about the ferret being adrenal. One could refer to the profile and see that. would be able to provide assistance more quickly without questions back and forth. Not only that it would be just plain fun to go through all the profiles and pictures of each ferret. Each thread would be managed by the farrent.

I like this a lot too, because it would also be a great place to keep a sort of health diary. We post so many milestones and events here and I know I've gone back through my own posts to find the date of something ferret-related more than once!

I think that is a pretty cool idea. I really enjoy learning about the different personalities the ferrets have.

I've been thinking about this suggestion, since you posted it msav. I like the idea. Sometimes when someone posts, I will go to their Profile and look at their intro threads and see who belongs to them. Then I can remember who is who and what has gone on with them. If we built a Profile Thread, then it would end up getting moved farther and farther back, until someone added to it again and then it would be bumped up front. Kind of like "# of ferrets on the forum". It might be nice to have the profile available under the Members Profile, then we could just hover over their name and go to Profile and see the information, picture and name of each ferret, that the ferrent has posted. Make sense?

makes perfect sense. As long as there is a logical why of looking things up. I can get used to any way it is done and sometimes you don't know the right way until you have done it the wrong way. I can see using the ferrets name first may not be a good choice since there are many ferrets that have the same name.
Do all users post pics and descriptions of their ferrets in the introduction post?

No, not all users post pics and intros, and the longer someone has been on board, the more pages of threads (under their profile) to look thru. That's why I liked the idea of putting it under the Member Profile. It would be quicker to find and access the info.

I think you are right about editing, I'll test the theory with an edit on my Wynstan's treasures thread.

Nope, editing it (I added a nod emoticon) didn't bump it.

Not sure if this information is useful, but here is a website that I found years ago for reptiles. I think that this is what you are looking for or thinking of doing? Its a cool site and you can post and share pictures and make feeding charts for individual animals. www.iherp.com/Welcome.aspx

You can also just add names into the signature area of your profile. Like on mine I have the names of all listed. It shows up at the bottom of every post. Same if you want to have a picture signature.
