So i' m super sick, i feel like my head is going to explode. I know ferrets get sick from people so i' m resisting giving them 101 kisses a day... i was just wondering what are the signs of a ferret who has gotten the cold/ flu?

Same as with people. Stuffy noses, sneezing, lethargy, decreased appetite.

That's funny you asked. I'm sick as well, and have been trying to keep my distance from my pair as well. I had been wondering this same question last night.

Lots of TLC. Warm soups hand fed. If they can't smell their food they won't eat it(stuffy nose). Run a very hot shower and take them in to have the steam help loosen congestion. Preventative antibiotics. What WE get for about 10 days- muscle aches, congestion, etc THEY get for about three weeks. Ferrets suffer SO badly with the flu And they are quite likely to get pneumonia which can only be diagnosed via X-ray, so best to simply suck it up and give no kisses, have minimal interaction, TONS of hand washing before feedings, etc. My Boris actually quit eating when I was sick one time. He was so accustomed to momma giving him kisses from the top if his head all the way down to his shoulders and back up several times a day that when I had to stop due to the flu- he spiraled into a depression. I actually had to go to the extent of scrubbing thoroughly(face, neck, hands etc, AND putting on a surgical mask for the sole purpose if giving those kisses so he knew momma still loved him So be prepared to "go that extra mile" with any who are strongly bonded
