1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
THis website, I found it before we even got our first ferret. Looking for cages and bedding options.
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
Full raw, frankenprey diet
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I am friends with Anita Wonky, she was feeding some freeze dried raw. After the second recall of Evo I decided it would be healther. I also noticed how skiny my ferrets were and their fur was couarse.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
Yes
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
Buddy, the youngest and first ferret to my family. Just turn a year June 1st. We got him last Sept for my daughters birthday (actually they are all my daughters ferrets but Dad and I help her with them.)
Pedro, the oldest about 2 1/2 from a rescue not sure on his age. Had him since Jan.
Toro, about 1 1/2, came to our house as a foster in March but we didn't adopt him unitl April 15. also a rescue
Penny, about 2ish, bonded with Toro, again foster that we could not send back, btw she is my husbands favorate
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
Soup 2-3 times a day, beef heart, beef kidney, turkey or chicken livers, and chicken thighs including skin which usually gets eaten by all four. currently have chicken slivers included, sometimes they eat them, sometimes they don't. Pedro never eats the chicken chunks. We started the switch april 25, I thought I could do it on my own, however we are at a standstill and need help. We were feeding the soup as a grind but pedro stopped eating and lost 4 oz, so we stepped back to mush and he has regained 2 oz back.
N-Bones for treats (didn't know they were not good for them and will not buy anymore after these are gone)1-2 times a week.
Waysong freeze dried chicken and pheasant for treats, 1-2 times a week
Baby bottle with oil used for training (using potty) and the encurage Pedro to eat food 3x a day. Currently using 1/3 EVOO, 1/3 fish oil, and 1/3 ferretone(I will also not be buying anymore ferretone just using to switch they all refused EVOO and fish oil without it, I am slowing reducing amount. Each ferrets gets aprox 5-6 drips a day on average.
Canned pumpkin for loose stools only
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
Currently in the process but at a standstill, need additional support for what to do next.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
these are my daughters ferrets, she is 11 and not really allowed on line but agrees with raw diet. she feeds lunch and dinner. i feed breakfast. we also have 2 dogs that we just switched to raw.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer? 5-6, but also have daily access on my phone
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
