Based upon what I've been reading, ferrets are similar to other small animals with regard to blood work and kidney disease. However, there is one thing that can be different about ferret blood work regarding the possibility of kidney disease - -> It's not rare for ferrets with kidney disease to have high elevations of BUN while still showing creatinine values that fall within normal range. Many vets do not expect this, and they will look for elevated creatinine before they confirm a diagnosis of kidney disease. For this reason, some ferret vets feel kidney disease is most likely underdiagnosed in ferrets. The following is a good discussion of ferret blood work in general, including interpretation of blood work associted with kidney disease. www.cabi.org/isc/showpdf.aspx?pan=20093018989I will try to get a the info directly into this thread because links disappear. But in the meantime,
