WOW that is an interesting colour.. I've never seen it before. Are many betta's around your area coloured like him or was he a lucky find?

He actually changed in color as time went on. I was so happy with his cotton candy color, but it deepened since I got him. He's got a nice deep blue on him now, with red streaks in his tail, but the weirdest thing is his head is a really deep ruby, rather than a deep blue that I usually see on blue-bodied bettas. He hasn't been looking good lately, though, and I'm worried. He hangs out near the bottom of the tank and his tail fin is clamped together, which either means fungus (ugh) or he's stressed out (ammonia levels?) so I'm setting up my 10 gallon tomorrow as soon as I get my dresser top cleaned off and I'm going to let it cycle through so I can get him transferred in there. It'll be easier to maintain healthy levels of ammonia and nitrates and all that stuff in a 10 gallon than in a 2.5 gallon. For now I'm doing bi-daily water changes and adding in a teeny bit of aquarium salt to help him out. :C

When I saw his first picture I thought Candy Corn...I know I'm weird! He's definitely pretty, boy...I have a female in my classroom (we're required to have a class pet but couldn't have anything w/fur ) The children named her Kai-lan...after the cartoon. She's pretty plain with just a but of red in her fins...
