The Wysong Epigen-90 ferret formula will most likely need to be ordered online. If your ferrets develops a "flexibile enough palate" to eat both kibble and raw, then a change in kibble brand will not be terribly traumatic to them. If you feed venture into raw feeding, you'll want to feed variety (different types of meats) to ensure a full spectrum of nutrients.
Whetehr or not you're feeding kibble or raw, feeding variety is important to maintain afleible palate - perhaps most important, a ferret that eats only one food iwll more likely develop allergies/intolerance to one or more ingredients inhis diet.
You can feed one kibble only if you are also feeding raw (frozen and/or freeze-dried) if the kibble is chicken-based, then yo probaly want to focus on other protien sources (lamb, beef, pork, rabbit, etc.) for raw feeding option. If you work of feeding variety, you'll find your ferret will be more accepting of varietion in the diet - my ferret will eat just about anything, which is convenient. -jennifer

I agree, from what I have heard most ferrets eventually reject kibble once they have access to the better stuff (raw, freeze dried, commercial raw, etc). My girls quite quickly started ignoring their kibble once I started the switch. Also, if you do eventually switch to raw (in whatever form) it is recommended you use a minimum of at least 3 different sources of protein.

If you are providing kibble I would recommend to always nourish more than one. I used to nourish Wysong and Evo. They purpose to nourish more than one is that if there is a lack or you can't get one for some purpose you always have another they are willing to eat.

Regarding the high-pressure pasteurized (HPP) raw foods...that process really does kill the germs in the raw. I noticed that when the Nature's Variety started the HPP processing, the food could sit thawed in the fridge a lot longer - much longer than before the HPP processing, and much longer than regular raw human food (meats). To be honest, the kibble probably has more food cooties and toxins than the HPP -processed foods. You could feed two raw meals a day with a bit of kibble or freeze-dried raw for snacking. I did not leave the fresh raw out since I'm a germ-phobe too. I would let them eat for and hour and discard what they did not eat. (It was usually all gone. I started feeding the archetypal I freeze-dried raw- the kids where fighting over it. I was unaware it was raw....and then I found out (as in EEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!! )But, my kids were doing so much better on the freeze-dried raw that I hated to ttake it away from them. Soooo.....off I went to the holistic vet to learn. That's how I got started on all this. ANyway, the main thing is that you always have to do something that works for you, because if the feeding program does not work for you, you won't stick with it. It's ALWAYS good to improve - even it things can't be perfect---- I don't feed the "ideal diet" by any means, but I do the best I can for my kids. No whole prey in this house It just ain't gonna happen here! -jennifer
