I've noticed lately that occasionally Mis will have drooled during sleeping, so that when he comes over once he wakes up he's got a bit of drool and foam at his lips. It doesn't continue once I (or he) wipe it off, and it doesn't happen all the time. The first time it happened he was playing in my room and I thought that he'd gotten into something, but I couldn't find anything he could have gotten to and he didn't act any different than usual. A while passed and it happened again, only this time it was when I woke him out of sleep while they were in their cage. Today (about a week after the last time) it happened again. It doesn't happen often, and he isn't showing any signs of lethargy, and no vomiting or mouth pawing. He's bright eyed and super energetic and eating fine. Could it be that this is just a ferret thing, where some ferrets drool more occasionally? Should I be watching for other signs? Both Mis and Coco are scheduled for a vet visit near the end of April, but if it's something I should be taking him in for I might be able to get him in with Tikki on her visit next Saturday. Just wanted to check to see if anyone's had similar experiences, because this is just a bit weird and I'm not sure if it's a sign of a bigger problem.

How old is your ferret? My first thought would be insulinoma.

That was my thought as well. As in maybe he is having small seizures while sleeping? I honestly don't know. I suppose he could also have a misaligned jaw. Does he have any missing teeth? Or does he go into a dead sleep often? What I'm thinking there is maybe he's sleeping SO deeply, he is drooling during it? Grasping at straws here.

That's what I was worried about as well. D: He's just around 2 right now. No missing teeth and I rarely ever catch him in deep sleep, I've seriously only caught him in deep sleep maybe three times since we got him two years ago. Unless he just sleeps really deep and wakes up really, really fast from it... It's just weird since it just started lately in the past two months.
I'm shooting off an e-mail to my vet as well, maybe she has some ideas but if she wants to see him I'll probably get him in with Tikki on her visit. Thought I'd ask you guys in case anyone had an experience like this. I really, really hope it's not insulinoma and just some weird drooling thing, but since it's happened a few times now I'd rather be safe than sorry.

What type of diet is he on? How long has he been on this diet? I would have his blood glucose check.
Can you remember when last time he ate?

He's eating a mix of RMB and whole prey (chicken wings, pork, mice of various ages, organ meats once a week + salmon oil and tuarine supplement a couple times a week) but the ferrets have only been eating the mice regularly since the beginning of this year. Mis has been eating raw since I got him almost exactly two years ago.
I know he was eating some of the chicken they had leftover from yesterday this morning when I went to bring them upstairs, and when I took them back to their cage he ignored the food I put out and kept playing in the cage. He just doesn't stop, he's like the energizer bunny. o__o
I'll see if the vet can check his BG when I bring Tikki in. If anything, I can check it at home, I've done Tikki's more than a few times and it's not as difficult as I'd imagined it to be. Actually, I have to check hers anyway so I can check his as well.

Does he otherwise seem to breathe differently when he's asleep or awake? Can you hear any other snuffling or noises? One of our cats tends to snort and snore, and will drool when he purrs hard or occasionally while very relaxed or sleeping. The vet suspected that he has scarring in his sinuses, maybe from a respiratory infection as a kitten before we got him. Also, it was worse when he was a little overweight.
Hopefully Mis is just having yummy dreams!

I haven't heard anything different about his breathing. I'm hoping he's just having yummy dreams too! He's doing really good otherwise, no changes in his behavior and he was being a spazzy little thing today, bouncing so crazily he bounced straight off of my bed.

My concern would be petitmal seizures. Insulinoma would be my thought too. ciao
