I'm still trying with the whole meat, this morning I cut up some pieces of boneless pork chop and mixed it in his S&C. Maybe he'll like that better then the chicken. What are other ways I can get him eating meat?

How big are you cutting the pieces? Some ferrets need to start with very small slivers. You can try soaking it in warm to hot water for a few minutes to bring out the aroma, add a few drops of their favorite oil or supplement. This may be enough to get them to try it. It also helps to hand feed rather than dump it in a dish or on a spoon. They seem to trust you directly more and feel special.

I'll try hand feeding him some chicken tonight, but with this mornings S&C I put in some cut up pieces of boneless pork chop and he ate them all! Pork was a definite hit! I bought some chicken wings today so maybe ill try hand feeding one of those before I give him dinner.

That's great! Chicken wings will need to be cut into small pieces to start. Also, the thick skin on the wing is tough for ferrets without enough jaw strength to tear through. Mine love it when we have home made wings night here- the hoomans get a pile of buffalo wings, the ferrets get a pile of wing tips to snack on. They devour these bone and all and seem to really enjoy them.

How big of pieces should I cut the wing into?

Segment the wing into three. Cut the middle section between the two bones. Cut those and the wing tip in half. Take a cleaver or a very heavy knife and basically chop the bejeepers out of the drumette portion.

Check in the freezer section at a largish grocer's. You'll frequently find liver and/or heart there.

Bought some beef heart today, fed it to him with his dinner, we shall see if he likes it. He now eats beef chunks, pork chunks and chicken chunks without hesitation. Can he have turkey neck? Cut up pork neck bones? Chicken feet? Pig feet? Lamb neck?

Mine never got through pork feet, and it took them a while to work through lamb neck. But yes on the rest.

Awesome thanks for all the help! I'm glad he has been so easy to get to eat raw, I was looking through some of the mentoring threads and seems not everyone has an easy time.

I tend to find some leftovers in the bowl every meal. I usually add fresh patty to it unless it smells bad. If there's a lot left over I don't give them anything fresh, I just add some more hot water to it and mix it up to reheat it and they'll usually eat it all. If they still haven't touched it after that, I know them eat must be bad and I'll chuck it and give fresh. So this isn't a bad thing? I was feeling guilty that sometimes my girls wouldn't eat everything and it still looks good...and I hate to waste it. Sent from my Xoom using proboards

That is not uncommon to see when you first switch them. Make it more of a gradual switch. Their stomach has to adjust.

Whatever they do to the commercial raw these days, it seems to sit out for a good 8-12 hours without turning. I'll feed them fresh in the morning, often they don't eat it all and it gets re-served as dinner, the next morning whatever is left is chucked, the bowl washed and fresh is given. Of course some days they are hungry beasts and eat it all and have to be fed an extra meal. ;D
I find the commercial raw will get this sour milk sort of smell when it's too far gone for them to want to eat. If you find you are getting a lot of leftovers, offer them less.
