My Chestnut loves his hammie as well. I have a "pouchie" kind and he just snuggles there usually during his daytime naps.

My boys LOVE their hammies. It doesn't matter if they are free swinging or kinda dangling along the bottom of a shelf (so like a hammie bed kinda), they LOVE them. Bandit doesn't use one as much as he use too since he gained SO MUCH weight (I guess it just isn't comfy), but I ALWAYS find Mischief and Pogo sleeping together in the mornings in the hammie at the bottom door. When I brought Mischief home he did have a hammie in his tiny cage his previous owners had him in but he never use it - I don't think he knew what it was for and it was kinda high. Also, and I think this rings tru for most ferts - if the hammie is too small they won't use it. I didn't think Mischief would like hammies but as soon as he was out of quarantine and sleeping the big cage with his brothers he discovered the big hammies (the one in his original cage was tiny) and won't really sleep in anything else while in the cage now I buy the 17-20" hammies when I can find them and I won't use anything smaller. I have found double-wide hammies a few times but they are HUGE and stretch the whole length of my FN 182 so they take up ALL of one level of the cage. I might still get one to try one day.

I have dealt with this company before. I never got my product she was supposed to be making. Money was supposed to be paid but it was never finished and she finally quit responding to any emails 3 months after it was supposed to be finished. I'm not a fan either. That lady is horribly unprofessional. I e-mailed her regarding some requests of mine and never got a reply. She also has her phone number up on that website to call for orders, so I did call and she never answered. I left a voicemail telling her I was interested in placing an order and if she could please contact me and even left my phone number and still nothing. I was irritated beyond belief. The next day I tried another website and got an immediate response from them which made me pleased. Absolutely unacceptable for her to treat clients that way and run a so-called "business" like that. If she isn't currently accepting orders due to personal issues, instead of ignoring clients, the least she can do is reply back saying so or have it listed in big bold letters on the homepage of her website as "Currently Not Accepting Orders At This Time"

Im sorry you guys had bad experiences with this woman. Im definitely going to think twice before buying her stuff

Wow that's weird... This is at least the 4th vendor I know of who makes things for ferrets, and who lets their personal issues get in the way of their customer service Apparently this kind of thing is pretty common among people who make stuff for ferrets! I have run into this kind of situation myself three times already.

I've found that it actually just seems to be really common among people who sell their hobby on the internet. Someone enjoys making things, a friend tells them they're really good at it & should sell it, they set up a "business" but then treat it like the hobby that started it all, rather than like the business they are supposedly running.

Where did you see the double wide hammies? Our fuzzie all get in the same hammie together which can be crowded & rough on the hammie. I'd love to get some.

I've seen the double-wide hammies online some place, but I can't remember where, sorry BUT I have seen one or two on occasion at several different Petco's in the past year. I'm not a fan of Petco (since they sell ferts and don't seem to care about them), but on occasion I will visit one IF it happens to be in my general vacinity and I sometimes see the double-wides. They are HUGE!!! They really do stretch the entire length of a FN 142 (and comparable) cage!!!

Litter boxes, softened food, never has tiny ferrets and adopt out abandoned or returned ferrets for $50. So I will be checking to see if they have any.

Good luck! And if you find any let me know how they work out. I just thought they would be too long and would take up too much room for my boys to like them, but I could always be wrong As for your Petco - they sound nice! I can't complain too much, all but 1 of my boys came from a Petco. I wish our Petco's were more like yours though - We have 3 close by: One has a lady that LOVES ferrets and often take them in when they can't be adopted out, but they still sell TINY babies (this is where 3 of my boys came from). The second sells tiny babies as well and the staff were VERY uneducated about ferrets (this is where I got 1 of my boys). The third has staff that is a tiny bit more educated, but they don't clean the cage nearly enough and they don't keep wet food in the cage for all the tiny babies they always have, EVEN when I mention it and sit there waiting for them to fill up the soupie bowl It just breaks my heart to walk into one of these pet stores and see both the tiny babies and the oldies that are basically unadoptable. I know I can't save them all so I make myself stay out of these stores unless I really need to look for something for my boys (cause Petco's often have better stock and toys for ferts than PetSmart's do).

I will. I adopted Jeremy from our Petco. He had been returned. They are not perfect but the man who is adopting Thomas has spent a lot of time working with them. I'm currently working on improving our Pet Supermarket. It is a slow frustrating process. But their ferrets will soon have hammies and they are willing to learn I kind of have to stay in contact as the shelter rep for the area.
