Ulcer?

Everything has been going well. Until I got my third job. I don't know if it is an ulcer but we think it probably is. Who? We're not sure which ferret...though we suspect Bonkers. Tonight we let the ferrets out but weren't able to really play with them much. We put them up...and a few minutes later I go to clean their cage and there it is. A VERY large splotch of yellow liquid, right beside a very distorted poop-like form. I thought it may be throw up, but wasn't sure. It was hard to tell. Then we found a very tiny black stool (sort of tarry, but not extremely). We saw Booth go to the bathroom and it was normal. So it's not him. Jeff looked it up and it seems like it may be ulcers. We brought 2 new ferrets into the house within 2 months, and Bonkers has been jealous since the first one of those. I've noticed the past couple weeks he just doesn't want to play as much as normal. I thought he was just trying to adjust and I'd get him back out of the cage and try to cuddle or play and he just wanted to go back in. ...Obviously we'll call the vet. But both of us are completely booked with work except the Weekends which my vet doesn't do.....

Have you introduced any new foods? What about organ meats recently?

Just soupies but not very often since it's been hard to get the meat (not many sales lately). The last time was a couple nights ago I think. Was going to increase it after the next sale at the grocery store.

Is he refusing to eat? Pawing at his mouth, or continuously rubbing his face on the floor? Sort of like when they clean their faces after soupies, but doing it a lot more. Is he grinding his teeth? These are all signs of pain, and/or nausea. The yellowy liquid would most likely have been urine.

Well the liquid stuff was very similar to urine, but had a slight white thickness to it. So it didnt LOOK like pee.
No, he has no symptom. Lincoln doesn't either. We took Bonkers out and let him in our bedroom which they barely are allowed to. So he ran around, jumped, play bit, war danced, etc.
I'm home until 3 tomorrow so I'll do the same with Lincoln and see how he acts. Is the poop worrisome? Or could it possible be nothing major?

If it's just one or two, I'd not worry about it just yet. If one of them has ulcers, the black tarry stools should continue.

I would just watch him carefully and see if it continues. He could just be stressed out.

Well the black tarry stuff stopped and the yellow pops continued. It was Bonkers. But after we separated them we found another stool like that in the others' area. We found out Lincoln has the liquid poops too, and they're green... Looks like we may have a case of ECE. Why there were black tarry stools I don't know. Loki's poops have been yellow and liquidy since we brought her home, but we thought it may be her food. Probably not, since the others are now sick. We'll be taking them to the vet by Wednesday if things get worse.

ECE can unfortunately sit in the system, undiagnosed, and untreated(no symptoms) until the ferret becomes stressed, which then causes a flare up. Unfortunately, it is also highly communicable, even if the carrier is showing few to no symptoms.

Marie dealt with a recent ECE outbreak - maybe she will pop in and provide some advice/insight.

Good news: Taking them to the vet Monday afternoon. Bad news: Lincoln isn't eating (from what I can tell), so we've been bribing him with tasty ferretone on his food. He doesn't realize there's barely any there though lol But even then it's only a very small portion

You may have to start syringe feeding him. Chicken baby food is good for that. He's likely nauseous and not wanting to eat, or his tummy is sore.

We watched him for awhile last night and he never ate, so thankfully we have some A/D still from the last time they were all sick with a cold. We'll use that today and tonight. Depending on what the vet says, I want to start him on chicken baby food as it's cheaper and I think it would be easier on his stomach. He is still high energy, though I can see it in his eyes now that he's just not feeling well at all.
Other than ECE, what can cause poops to be green? His is the only one that's green, everyone else is already getting normal poops.
Wish us the best the next few weeks, it's going to be tough. <3 My babies <3

Bacteris, IBD, stress, a good number of things, actually. Are his poops frequently "off"? I know Boris can have that yellow watery diarrhea you mentioned in the first post.

They're consistent with his. The others had it about two days (only the yellow) but now most their poops are normal.
Lincoln is the only one who has the green and he was straining last night to poop. When he did poop, it came out very thin and pure green with lots of yellow/green liquid, then as he was wiping his bum he peed. It looked like he was still trying to poop as he walked away, or wipe his butt, so I took some kleenex and wiped it for him then he acted normal and ran off.
By the way, what sort of chicken food should I feed? I heard just plain "Gerber's Second Chicken", but I don't even see that on their website.
