So we have 9 hungry weasels who we don't want caching food all over our bedroom. We are building them what will hopefully be a cozy feeding den where they can eat and cache their food comfortably. It starts out with a large tub that we are modifying: Note that we have added our custom tunnel connectors to the ends. One will be connected to the cage via a tunnel, the other will have the option of being open to the room or closed off with an end cap. Here are the two platforms for the den. It will be two levels, with legs to hold it up obviously, some ramps to access it, and some meat hooks on it to hang food on. It also is getting holes drilled in it to set stoneware bowls down into for soup, water etc. The wood is all cut, we are just waiting for the polyurethane sealant to finish curing so we can put it together.

I wanted to just give them a wooden create or card board box or a tote even, but he has all these grand ideas... that's the problem with being an engineer. You have to make everything bigger and better.

;D ;D ;D I live with one of those, except yours must be a hands on practical type....mine does most of his work on paper It takes awhile for plans to reach something other than paper. It's great when they finally get done...it's just getting them to that stage ciao

Oh I think your kids will really like that.
And your men remind me of mine, great ideas for something that starts out simple and easy but he doesn't draw them out, or get around to them for a long long time. We moved two years ago next month and he promised to build me a shelving unit one wheels for this tall narrow and mostly useless cupboard in my kitchen. We went out and bought all the wood and he even started, built the base and put the wheels on to make sure it could roll out and I could get stuff off of it. But now almost 2 years later no shelves. Frustrating as h*ll.

It sounds like it's going to be incredible! I was just thinking about building a feeding feeding den to have prepared for when I decide to begin my switch to raw. Could you elaborate a bit more on those custom connector tunnels and how you got them to stay in place? I'm curious about the cost of all of this as well. This will be great for a future reference. I'm excited for you and your fuzzies.

This thread should answer some of your questions regarding our tunnel system: holisticferret60.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cage&action=display&thread=7239Basically, we cut steel plates to fit the cage, remove the bars in one spot, cover them inside and out with the plates with the dryer quick releases bolted on in between. Then we connect a piece of tunnel to another quick release, and the two quick releases connect to one another.

I'm waiting on the shelf in my kitchen cupboard to snap and fall on him. It's been sagging for some time and he told me he would fix it. Still waiting.

Don't show that to my girl... she's getting a tote box with a hole cut in it. Great work, can't wait to see how it goes over with the 'fuzz.

lol Same here, mine are going to be jealous. The just get a normal tote. I have no extra room around the cage for something like that.
I bought a tote for my den on the weekend and not it turns out it's a little to long for inside the cage.
