Thank You!!! You guys are a bit more advanced DIY'ers than we are. I'm not sure what a keyhole bit is, but I'm sure we can figure it out!

wow! You guys are WAYYYYY more advanced DIYers than us. Is that an angle grinder? Well, I've got what I think will be an ok workaround in place (less complex for me) in using a combination of Inlet Flanges and Blast Gates to make cage portals. If it works, I'll put my own pics and links up as well for those of us who are not as mechanically inclined as Yurei

Lol well my S/O does all of the actual work and comes up with most of the designs, though I do invent some of the stuff.
Yes, we bought an open box angle grinder on clearance at Lowe's for like $30 for making these plates. It worked out well.

OK so based on the pics it looks like you have a FN cage? When I measured a potential cage cutout on my FN, it looked like it would be an opening about 6x6 inches. Do you make your sheet metal pieces 8x8 so that they cover the full opening?

Thanks Yurei,
I'm actually great at designing things. Its the execution I have trouble with. I asked my husband if I could borrow his angle grinder last night and he told me he didn't think I could hold it and start it at the same time. Apparently it is heavy and it spins super fast. I believe he's concerned that I might grind off a hand. I'd really like for this to be my pet project, and do this without his help... heh, I didn't even mean that to be a pun.
The cool news is that Midwest did have the extra pieces I asked for, so I have an upper side panel and a middle panel grid on its way. They won't be here before the ferts so I've got in-cage litter box and corner feeders. Once the grids arrive, I'll be able to configure them outside of the cage, so as not to impact the babies. Then, when it is time to put the configurations in the cage, I'll do it on a cleaning day when the kids are in their playpen frolicking.
See, I'm awesome at planning (I work as a Project Manager), but lets see how long it takes me to build these configurations. I have the 4 inch flanges and blast gates and this fantastic heavy duty hose. I just need to figure out the metal plates.

Keep in mind you need to use oil when cutting metal. Otherwise your blade will bind up generally. They sell the oil at home depot/lowe's.
