I went back today, just to get it out of my system, and played with the bitty. He was ridiculously playful--in fact, too much energy I think for Paulster. It was good to meet the personality and realize he was a good fit for a different ferret home (in fact, a 2+ business for him I think would be great to help him bounce around enough). Awesome ferret, hope he winds up in someone's "business" as he'll be too much for one ferret or ferrent. BUT, I bought Paulie toys. He tends to bite through rattly balls (he is so big he tries to hoard them). But, they had some I thought might hold up to him (he's already hid two) and I took pictures. Paulie just pushed both balls that weren't hidden out of camera range. Playing with those rattly rolleys. (BTW, he thinks the empty laundry basket is the best place to play). You can tell how much he's slimming down post pred from my last few sets of pics. ;D Happy fuzz=Happy fuzzmom!

Cute pics! Nice to see Paulie got some gifts outta the trip My girls LOVE the laundry basket. I turned it upside down and taped a towel around it. It was supposed to be a time out area. Turns out its a great "arena" for war dancing and play fights. Trixie will wait inside, paitently biding her time until newbie Dixie wanders in. Then she attacks! Paulie is so cute! I love his tummy

Paulie is looking great! He sure looks like a sweetie! My girls LOVE the laundry basket. I turned it upside down and taped a towel around it. It was supposed to be a time out area. Turns out its a great "arena" for war dancing and play fights. I tried the exact same thing (time out area).. but one of my kits is small enough to squeeze through the slats, the other is a little porker and can't fit. The little one squeezes out, then runs around in circles outside, while the big one runs around in circles inside.. lol

I love that face. That face, looking up into my eyes and giving me kisses, is what made me bring him home. The power of a ferret stare. He definitely is spoiled!
Paulie is a little over 3 now. And yeah, Katt, last pics he was blowing coat (after a major thin because he skipped last year's spring shed after living in the unfinished basement with me). Since his belly doesn't drag the ground anymore he has fur on his belly. For now he has thicker tail fur, but Paulie has a tendency toward rat tail -- I hope he keeps the fur though.
He remembered his new toys this morning after digging wouldn't get me up (I was exhausted after yesterday).

In fact: Raw soupies, nom nom nom And more nomming! Paulie's been on raw soupies since the switch. He hasn't eaten solid foods since he was 1 and had an exploratory surgery that diagnosed a case of enteritis that looked like a blockage in X-ray. That was after I had suspicions of IBD. As a novice ferret owner, I didn't much know what I was dealing with. Now Paulie loves his NV red meat soupies (some Rabbit is okay now and again), though his shed will cause a flare up. His diet keeps him pretty stable (and chunky). Stress seems to be a minor factor in his flare ups--more a reaction to "foreign materials" (which to him includes chickens) that seems to incite a bacterial party in his gut. But he loves his soups and rattly balls.

As do I!!! Have you considered starting him on some supplements to help his IBD?

He's pretty stable, aside from sheds. He gets gassy more than diarrhea. Thus far controlling his diet has been a huge help. The vet took him off the pred since I was working on eliminating foods that upset his stomach. She's been pretty stoked with his energy increase since getting off those meds. I have considered supplements, and it is amazing what pumpkin in the soups a couple times a week can do. He will not chew--I remember trying to switch him and chunks were a stumbling block. He even makes me have him taste the soup in the spoon before he will dive in the bowl and eat (still!) in case something gross is there.
