I'm thinking about making some shelves for my FN instead of buying them. Has anyone tried this before? Right now I'm thinking PVC frames with cloth covers. I also have tons of plywood I cold use.

No reason it wouldn't work! You'll have to post some pics when you're done

I like the PVC idea! Like hammocks and trampolines all rolled in to one! ~Kelli

Funny that is our original cage. We added levels like these to give it more floor space. ;D ;D It is out of circulation as it needs a new bottom.

Those are great and would love to get some, but I just know the ferrets would be stashing their meats in it.

Yeah, I was considering them as well. Even talked with the person who makes these about them and how easy they might be to clean. I decided against it.

I have these for my FN cage, and my Fiesty Ferret Cage (in motorhome). So they would not get a draft or cold. They pulled their blankies in and were toasty warm. I love these. Yes, they will stash food in them. I had the basement model. Hercules and Pandora used a corner of it for a litter box. I also have the basic model which I used in the 143 of the FN cage. It gave the ferrets a whole floor to play. I got it specificly for Pandora she loves to play with jingle balls. So she could run and chase it in the cage. I had the basement for the FN (replaced shelf on lower level). Same problem as the one in the Fiesty Ferret cage. Thougt it was a litter box too. I highly recommed either model. The basement if you babies are well behaved. But more the Basic model. I don't think she had the pocket model when I got mine. I did not use the two for FN for a while since I was not using the cage. Will have to dig out for Thor. Thanks for the reminder!

PS: It is not easy to clean out the corners of the basement model... You have to try to turn it inside out through one of the holes. This would be great if it had a zipper in one of the seams so you could turn it inside out easier to clean. (I have a total of 3 of these floors) I got them to replace the shelfs in the FN Cage, because of injuries from the shelfs.

Here is what I've ended up with so far. A regular shelf was not working as instead of using the ramps mine were taking flying leaps onto & off of the shelf.

I think both of these ideas are fabulous! I don't have the ramps installed except for the one that doesn't come off so my guys leap up and down each level too. Is this a problem? They seem to have no problem doing it. In fact they seem to prefer it that way. When they use the ramp they tend to ooze down and stretch up it only far enough to again jump to the next level anyways.

As the worst case scenario usually happens around here, I'm just extra cautious about possible falls.
