Pippin eats anything...well, except turkey. Still trying to convince them it's food before I even try giving them necks. Ellie doesn't like the bones, but I'll see her eat occasionally. I need to weigh her to make sure she's getting enough. Unfortunately I haven't gotten more pork or not-wing chicken yet since I just bought a lot of meat and it was kind of expensive. Which means Goomba is still on soggy kibble. I'm still wondering if it's a teeth thing; he won't eat it hard. I did buy some beef though so technically I could try adding that into his food. He never liked beef much, though.

Hey! Sorry I've been a bit behind. I've decided to try something completely different with Goomba and see how turkey sits with him. I want to try a totally unrecognizable protein since he had associated the others with being scruffed and sick, then slowly try and add those back in. I know it's going to be a slow process with him, but hopefully it will go faster this time. What do you think? I'm going to make it into a soup and also add it as a gravy to the others' meat as well. I have to crush some more wings tomorrow. I'm having a problem with Ellie trying to eat kibble rather than meat. She'll just wait to eat until I let her out of the cage and eat what Goomba doesn't. I'm trying to do as much as possible to separate feeding, but while I'm at school I know she's eating kibble. Pippin and Goomba are going for bloodwork on Tuesday. Hopefully Goomba's bloodwork is looking better. I'm expecting Pippin to be anemic, but we'll see

That sounds just fine. Just watch him closely for any signs of possible allergic reaction. Lethargy, mucousy poop (keep in mind that soft poop is relatively normal for soupies), excessive itching, etc. I know things are hard right now because of school, just do what you can. What's the word on the summer job?

They called today and basically told me it's not going to work out. I have one last possible internship lined up; I should hear back sometime this week. This whole internship experience has really been a disaster

Just popping in for an update. I know things are crazy with you right now, but when you can post an update on who is eating what that would be helpful. Even if we can't make too much forward progress just yet, we at least want to make sure that they are getting the balance they need in the interim. I'll be gone for the weekend with limited reception but I'll check in when I can. I want to keep updated on Mr Pippin! Good luck and I'm thinking of you! Sending lots of love!

thank you i measure kibble with the lid to a jar that had held alfredo sauce...so yeah just a standard jar lid that's about half an inch tall. I'll switch to something more standard. Goomba gets one lid-ful of kibble and two cubes of turkey soup and is doing well on that. I still have problems getting Ellie to eat her food because she can smell Goomba's and just sits in the cage and waits. For the time being I'm just letting her, at least she's tasting the turkey. She WILL eat the crushed wings, though. I'm still trying to get them to eat turkey, I've dipped it in liver juice, dipped it in beef blood, but no luck. I'm going to make more turkey soup this weekend so try giving them some squirts out of a syringe and maybe add a drop of EVOO to get them to try it. Pippin still prefers meat over kibble, but he'll take one or two pieces of kibble if he passes by the bowl.

oh, goomba is still putting on weight. Ellie looks like she's lost some, but she doesn't feel noticably lighter so it might just be because of the weather change.

As long as Ellie and Pippin are still eating raw and accepting it as food it should be okay if they get a little kibble. Just watch for stomach upsets if they eat too much kibble (it digests slower than raw so having a large meal of kibble followed by a large meal of raw can sometimes cause stomach upsets). Keep slowly increasing the turkey on Goomba. It sounds like he is doing okay on the turkey then? With all we found from his BW I'd say there's a good chance he's not even allergic to chicken. Which is good. At the very least if he does ok with turkey we know he isn't sensitive to all poultry. What are Ellie and Pippin getting in a week roughly?

8oz of beef/pork spread throughout the week, crushed chicken wings to fill the rest, and 3 hearts and a 1 1/2 chicken liver. Idk if that's balanced but the bast couple weeks have been hectic. Today I have some time so I'm going to measure out portions and see what I have.

Ellie is the only one who will eat turkey soup without any kibble. Pippin still prefers meat and Goomba won't touch it if it doesn't strongly smell like kibble. I still have to spoon feed him a bite or two before he'll eat it on his own. I got the internship, I'll be working from 6am-8pm sun-thurs starting in two weeks. Which sucks because now I just want to spend time with Pippin, and the schedule is going to make Goomba's switch really difficult and nearly impossible for the others to stay out of his food.

Today I have some time so I'm going to measure out portions and see what I have. That's not quite balanced, but it's not too unbalanced either. Not bad. Try to shoot for 1.5 meals organ, 1.5 meals heart, and the rest meats (including gizzards) and bones. Organs should be roughly 10% of the diet, which on a 2 meal per day system, means that they should get about 1.5 meals a week of organ meat. If you are mixing the organs into their normal food on a daily basis, then average out how much food they eat in a meal, and be sure to spread about 1.5 times that in organs across the week. Heart should be pretty close to 10% also. The 10-15% bone is a little trickier but you get the hang of it. You are doing amazingly considering everything that you have had going on. Keep that in mind. There's still work to do, certainly with Goomba, but you have made incredible progress. Just from what you have accomplished so far they are going to be that much healthier and have stronger immune systems. Just think of the strength that Pippin has now to fight off that mass compared to what he would have on kibble only. His immune system will be stronger, as will the rest of his body.
