Ah I see. Well I guess I don't really have much of a routine, other than mince twice a week and liver on a Sunday I just pick out whatever takes my fancy lol Mostly the chicken wings, thighs and drumsticks (because I thought they were all 'meat on bone').
So I guess it would be:
Mon: 1x chicken wing/thigh/drumstick Tue: 1x chicken wing/thigh/drumstick OR 1 meaty bone from butchers Wed: Minced beef (sometimes with egg yolk) Thu: 1x chicken wing/thigh/drumstick OR portion of tripe if I have any Fri: 1x chicken wing/thigh/drumstick Sat: 1x chicken wing/thigh/drumstick Sun: Minced beef with chopped liver
They will now also be getting a small pinch of taurine powder each and crushed eggshells added to their food wherever possible.

Thanks Okay- you definitely need at least one more protein, more of course would be better. Is your beef mince meat, bone, and organ or simply ground beef? About how much liver are they getting in the mix?

About how much liver are they getting in the mix? Sorry for the slow response, this week has been absolutely hectic and I'm still swamped with work. In answer to your questions: I have no idea what's in the mince, it's just whatever Tesco sells :/ I no longer have the packet to check because I put it into bags and freeze it on the day I get it. I will check next time though. I would highly doubt it contained any bone though, can't see people wanting to buy that! I do now add crushed eggshells to it so that should help with the calcium content. And they get approximately an eggcup full of liver (maybe a little less) every week. They don't quite eat all of it though, despite my best efforts I usually find little bits of it tossed out of the way haha

I found when trying to introduce liver and other organs, pureeing them in a blender helped a lot. You could try doing that and spoon-feeding to get them to try it.
I would also suggest at least one other protein source, more if you can easily find others. Are you in the UK? Finding rabbit should be fairly easy for you if so. Pork is also a big favorite with my guys, but do look for any additives ("enhanced," "injected," etc.) I think you're definitely on the right track, and just some tweaking is needed to create a more balanced diet. Good luck!

If I do the scruff 'n stuff they'll eat the liver, Frankie still doesn't look too thrilled with it though haha I'll see if I can borrow the kitchen blender and see if that makes a difference I am trying to get rabbit just now but my previous source seems to have vanished off the face of the earth :/ A friend has said he will try to put me in touch with someone else local though so fingers crossed I can get some soon!

I actually resorted to putting the liver in the food processor and mixing it with ground rmb. They love it that way and I don't have to fight about it. I had a couple that liked liver but the majority either would not at all or it was a fight so rather than wonder who has got their offal tonight....I just mix it. ciao

I have to do that with my cats, Heather. They won't always eat it, or will pick around it, so I puree it and mix it into a grind. My ferrets will all eat organ whole but I tend to puree it to keep them from dragging it all over the place!

You'll be glad to hear that the butcher has been able to order me some pork tails (a whole 42p a kilo! lol) and so they will be getting added to the boy's diet next week. He even said he'd prep them for me first so hopefully they won't be too icky.
Still struggling to get turkey necks, I've got one more butcher to try but I think I'll be out of luck. Now that I've got pork tails and hopefully a new rabbit supplier soon they should be ok without them I think though?

Okay, that's 4 proteins so you are just over the minimum with that, so that's good The only thing I'm still concerned with is heart/taurine powder. I gather you are unable to get fresh heart, so as long as they are getting approximately a 500mg capsule a day each they *should* be covered for that.

And 500mg is about a quarter of a teaspoon, correct? I am having a little difficulty getting them to take it as they're not keen on the taste, but we're getting there.

I honestly don't know, since I buy it in 500mg capsules.

Ah I see, I just got a big tub of the powder stuff. Apparently a human is supposed to take half a teaspoon a day, so a ferret will need much, much less than that due to considerably smaller size. I figured aiming for a quarter of a teaspoon (actually that's between 2, so an eighth each) would be more than enough.
