Could he have rat-tail? Pixie had it one hot summer when the AC wasn't working. Kinda like ferret acne. It caused her tail-hair to thin a lot.

Yea it looks nasty, the skin is dirty. I think there are signs of fur coming in. I'd wash it but Omg he is a slippery seal when I get him sudz up, its very difficult to clean him.

I know that photos can be misleading but he looks good. He's lean but not thin. He's got fur everywhere, now I know that photos can be deceiving and that he could have no undercoat and the photo won't show it but he looks not bad...cute little sod ciao

Yeah I agree. Ferrets aren't supposed to be fat -they are lean animals. I think he looks great and is precious!

Well, Oz is about the same age almost to the month that your boy is. I was thinking he might have adrenal, because he was looking like a molester as well. But, he stopped being so rough, after a month or so, before I got the chance to take him to the doc. The vet now says he seems fine to her, just to keep an eye on him. Maybe he is just going through a bout of hormones! Oz's behavior was like you described-he would grab by the scruf and lick and chew, but just lay on top of them, or try to fight them rougher than usual. Maybe it's the same sort of deal?

Miss Emily, summer coat and weight: Miss Emily, her first real winter, with winter coat and weight: Just to show you how much of a difference there can be! Granted, she's not in mid shed in either of these, but still!

yeah he looks pretty good in the pictures, though I can see a few areas that look extra thin. Could be the hair of his summer coat is still growing in there... Also, try those oil-removing face wipes on his tail. If his tail looks dirty, it may be blackheads aka rat tail...
