On no poor boy! You said he vomited green. Do you by vhance have any green cornstarch peanuts in the house? Those can block them up if they eat too many which could just be a few.

Just an update. the vet who is doing the surgery (diff vet than the one we saw last night) looked at the estimate and brought the cost down by a few hundred. Now we're looking at more like $900-1200. Phew! This is the vet he is at right now. He will be seeing Dr. Doty. Going into surgery at 10:00. (It's 8:20 here now). I will keep you all posted! www.diamondhospital.com/?page_id=19(907) 562-8384 Updates will come as soon as I have them! Right now he is doing better in that he is more hydrated and has perked up a bit. Which is good, he was SO lethargic last night. I have never seen him so bad! On the barium X-Ray the barium didn't even leak through a little, so he is Completely blocked! They offered him some water and even smelling it made him vomit. My poor baby. I will update you when they update me. Gods. I don't even have the slightest clue what he might have eaten! I mean he has barely even been out this week because we've been working on apps, and there's nothing in his cage to chew, he's not a bedding chewer and his toys are all hard plastic...

I'm so sorry to hear about Koda. I wish there was something I could do to help, but I got laid off recently and money is tight for myself and Sushi as well. My heart goes out to you and Koda. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to my girl. I REALLY hope Koda pulls through! Please keep us posted. We're all here for the two of you!

No packing peanuts in my house whatsoever. The ONLY thing I can think of after wracking my brain for every detail of our lives (we have the house SUPER ferret proofed) is the mattress. He chews on the side of Shane's mattress and likes to dig in the box-spring when he gets mad bc we aren't paying attention. We always stop him immediately though, and pick up any pieces that come off or are about to come off. We watch him like a hawk, and we watch the room like a hawk to make sure it stays ferret proofed. but I'd think if that was it, it would have soaked up the barium since it's a thin spongy material... Ugh. If that IS what it is, the base of my bed is coming off Tonight and my mattress is going on the floor. Storage be d*mned. I'm still desperately wracking my brain to figure out what else he might have gotten into. has anyone had a ferret eat pellet-litter? That's what they have in the box at Shane's house and there is a small throw up puddle in the feeding den that looked almost like the pellet bedding turned into liquid pulp... About 2 tsp of grey stuff... When he was a kit he tried eating it thinking it was kibble. I don't think he'd do that now, but maybe if he was mad enough at being cooped up? Or if his stomach hurt for some other reason maybe it was sort of like a dog eating grass to calm their bellies? Ugh. i just have no clue. We are SO, SO Careful!

Poor Koda! I'm sure he'll be just fine once they get the blockage out Katt, but we will all be praying for him. I can't donate much due to my dog just having surgery on Monday, but I sent a bit. I know in situations like this that every little bit helps.
Spend some extra time snuggling on Kenai today, it should help you take some stress out and he will need it as well, he knows you are worried.
Don't be afraid to indulge today- a tub of ice cream and netflix should help to keep your mind off of it. Obsessing will only make things worse, there is nothing you can do until he is out of surgery so try to rest until then so that you will be prepared for the aftercare.
I spend my life watching pet owners go through this process, and I have been through it myself. The best possible thing you can do is to be attentive to what the doctors are telling you. Ask questions, ask to see the x-rays, and be very aware of what you should be expecting, and when to call them if something is wrong. Your vet is there for you to answer those questions.
Sorry this turned out longer than I meant it to! I will be on skype most of the day if you need someone to talk to.

My goodness-I guess you will find out the problem after surgery. It is always something with these little heart-thieves!

Thanks. Every little bit really helps right now. It wouldn't even be as much of a problem if I hadn't just dumped my entire bank account into applications! The donations really help, I am so so grateful. I promise I WILL pay it forward when someone else needs help. I love being a part of such a loving and supportive community. You guys are like another family. One hour to surgery start time!

For what it's worth, box springs often have foam rubber hidden up underneath them.
