So ill be introducing my girl to kibbles at first when i get to bring her home. And slowly get her on raw. I was reading the More Dooks Ferret Food Chart. I seriously DO NOT understand that point system. Can someone maybe enlighten me? These kibbles are easily to be found in pet stores near me. And im thinking of mixing 3 types of kibbles. 1. Innova Evo Cat & Kitten 2. Go! Natural Chicken Turkey and Duck 3. Iams Kitten <-- This is because breeder feeds her this with a mix of Ziwipeak. But i seriously cannot find ziwipeak in any of the petstores here So how will the mix be? Ok or not ok?

I'm going to ask you a question rather than answer one (as Sonny (Miami) so eloguently put it on face book that I wouldn't know how to find a good kibble to feed my ferret if I needed to ) Why are you doing a slow switch? ciao

Also, if you are ultimately going to do raw, why not start day one while she's still more open to it ?

Ok let me try to explain a little. I work like 5 days a week and will be back at home roughly around 8pm. I leave the house at 9am. So i was thinking since ferrets need to eat every 4-5 hours coz they get hungry fast, the kibble would be a better option while im not at home. That is if she doesn't sleep all the way when im not home. And so the raw would be a better option when i get home. (Dinner time) At least i have time to thaw frozens and stuff like that. So basically im looking forward to a 70% kibble and 30% raw diet? Correct me if i am wrong She could however have raw all day on weekends, since i do not work during weekends

It's not wrong but your wee girlie once she's eating raw meats, could easily be given half her daily ration in the AM and let her have the other half (if she finished it) in the PM. This successfully gets rid of the kibbles which is the base for insulinoma. I've not fed kibbles in about 20 yrs (except when transitioning and even then I often just go with it) ciao

I see. Hmm so basically its just once in the morning before i leave for work and once at night when i get home? Do i still need to leave kibbles out for her just in case she does finish her morning serving?
Also we need to think of the transitioning, since the breeder feeds 80% kibbles and 20% raw. Her ferrets dont get raw all the time. That was lingering in my mind as well.

They don't need kibble in between meals. I give them enough so that there is usually 1-2 small chunks of meat still in the bowl when I get home from work (sometimes they do eat all of it), but not so much that they just stash it and never eat it, which wastes a lot of meat and money. Mine eat about half of it as soon as they get it, then come back after a few hours and nibble some more. If they already eat raw, switching to a full time raw could be really easy! I prepare all the food on the weekends, freeze it into bags for each day, and each even evening I move the bag for the next day into the fridge to let it thaw. That way it's ready to go the next day, and it doesn't take long to wash the bowl and plop the meat in it.

Ahhhh i get it i get it! alright im sold to getting her on raw 100% in that case LOL! But maybe i should get a small pack of at least 2 of the kibbles when she arrives? You know for the transition? I dont want her not to eat at all.. That would get me dead worried~

That would be a good idea to have on hand, mixing what kibble she eats with a higher quality one and mixing it. You might find that she takes to it immediately since she is so young and already exposed to raw. If she doesn't, you can sign up for the mentoring program or at least read through some of them to see what other people have done. If she doesn't take to it, you can try making meat soupies, putting a dab on her nose and letting her lick it off to get used to the taste, drizzle it over the kibble, etc. Hopefully she'll take right to it though and you won't have to worry about a difficult switch

It would be a really good idea to at least read through the archives in the diet section- especially the menus on the last page or so to give you an idea of the variety and ratios they need

Ill be looking into this. The breeder claims shes exposed to raw.. But she doesnt get it much. The kibbles are definitely more. I've seen soup in many many posts, but im not quite sure how do we make them. I dont have a grinder at home and we have limited poultry here in malaysia. And i cant touch pork or eat pork since i am a muslim. So im only able to do chicken and beef i guess. Offals from chickens are easy to get. From beef im not sure. I dont cook at home much too.. please forgive me if i sound daft about this matter LMAO.
