Sinnead had a melatonin implant almost a month ago, used in conjunction with her lupron, as the lupron by itself had quit working for her Well- not only has her sexual aggression disappeared completely, AND her vulva gone down again, but her tail is now looking bruised!!!! She's ALSO got fur coming back in! First time in a year and a half her little tail and bottom won't be bald

Especially since this is her little bottom There's minimal undercoat anywhere on her right now.

Bruised??? Is there supposed to be bruising? Lady "B" who is, I thought not responding to her Des implant is starting to exhibit some bruising at the base of her tail. The poor wee thing looks terrible. She is in much better shape than a couple of the others. She's holding her weight, is much more active but she's now gone an orangy colour with this horrible bruising on her butt. I was going to take her to the vet except telling the vet that she's still naked seems to be a poor reason for bringing her in. She appears to be putting on this orangy down stuff, it's not even really like fur. She never did loose her tail fur but lost almost all her coat across the hips up her back and across her shoulders. ciao

Doesn't bruising mean hair growth?

I don't know. Pooka just lost all her floof down to the undercoat. Lady "B"just lost all of her floof . I've never had a naked ferret before. All the adrenal babies but none ever went entirely naked ciao

Yay!!! I found with mine that the darker coats that come in make their skin looked bruised, but dean is all white and his never had the bruised look.

Yes, Heather- with sables, what looks like bruising means new fur growth just under the skin, that's not broken through yet And no Rose- I have to get the vet to do things like that here. We, as a rule, can't get access to lupron, melatonin implants, etc. What I think is surprising me the most with the melatonin implant though, is that the sexual aggression she was displaying is completely gone. That, and her vulva is reduced again

Thanks, I didn't know that term 'bruising' either.

Not a special "term". It literally looks like the area is one huge bruise The skin is purplish/bluish, as though it had been injured.

Yaay Sinnead! That is such good news Sherry! Does Melatonin take effect right away? Like to reduce mounting behavior while waiting for Lupron to take effect...?

Based on the article Jennifer posted a little while ago (http://www.melatek.net/images/AEMV_Journal_Dr._Murray.pdf) and with these results, it seems like melatonin is actually more than just a purely cosmetic treatment plan.
Katt, I have a feeling the results will take at least 2 weeks to show, maybe more.
