boozle - I think I may try some of the freeze dried liver and beef tenders and such if I can get them in small packages. If Rolo doesn't like them I can pass them along to my friend's dogs.
I don't know how he will take to beef, I've never fed it before. His kibble is all chicken based (it's the primary meat source in any case) and his raw food is all chicken, turkey, or duck - so all poultry. I'd like to get him to eat something else too, but the pet store NEVER seems to have the raw rabbit mixes in stock, and I don't know if they make beef flavour in the cat/ferret variety. The dog mixes all have vegetables in them
@freyamarie - I'm not sure about the foamy fries either. I looked up the n-bone chews and they are soy based
The biggest issue I have with the ingredients in foamy fries, is that the first ingredient is "animal protein" - what kind of animal??? This means they could be using anything from chicken to roadkill and we have no way of knowing. Basically my opinion on unnamed meat sources is that if it was a good source, they would tell us. Vegetable glycerin is often used to preserve fats/protein and it's not a sugar though it does seem to sweeten the taste, I'd say this is probably an acceptable preservative.
According to wikipedia, dicalcium phosphate is "Dicalcium phosphate is mainly used as a dietary supplement in prepared breakfast cereals, dog treats, enriched flour, and noodle products. It is also used as a tableting agent in some pharmaceutical preparations, including some products meant to eliminate body odor. It is used in poultry feed. It is also used in some toothpastes as a tartar control agent." It doesn't say what exactly it is supplementing.... so I remain suspicious.
Beef base is flavoring, and then we have food colouring.
But yeah, simply for the "animal protein" alone, I personally wouldn't feed them.
