If there's a break, you should notice swelling increasing fairly rapidly around the area of the break. Gotcha. Well, if this is a sprain, he is obviously the biggest woosey in the world  Hey, sprains can be painful!  I've had a severe sprain for 4 months now! I feel for the guy lol Hope he gets feeling better soon! |

I can vouch for the pain of a sprain. Personally, I would far rather have a clean break any day. The pain in only a few days, while the bone stabilizes, a pain of a sprain can go for weeks. As a martial artist I've suffered both and can do a reasonable comparison. A minor fracture, toes and ribs are common injuries. They will take you out for 24 hrs or less, a sprained thumb, wrist or ankle can take you out for weeks. Don't pick on your wee boy ;D, ferrets don't show pain...he's in pain  ciao |

He's hobbling around as best he can, trying not to use it. No swelling. I'll probably give him a week. If it gets worse or doesn't improve I'll take him in.
Otherwise he seems fine- he was trying to play last night and I had to remind him that we don't play with sprained legs in this house ;D

Update: still hobbling, trying as best he can to play and cause a ruckus. What a silly boy!

Update.
Well, it didn't get better. We took Hal to the vet, got the X-rays, and thankfully it's nothing bad.
Some weak cartilage in knee, and some of it became disconnected.
He was put on an anti-inflammatory and glucosamine chondroitin.
Otherwise vet said he looked good.

Disconnected cartilage is horribly painful. Poor wee boy. I hope he's feeling better soon.
