Appetites may be staring to slow down. One wing will easily do my big 4lb boy and my 1lb girl. And don't forget- the more they have to work at a meal, the less they eat. Combine that with summer appetites and they may only eat 2-3 oz for a meal. As long as they are staying active they should be good.

2-3 oz all together? Man I prepped way too much food for this week ;D And then how do you make sure that they get enough liver etc? Feed it more than once if they are only eating part of an ounce per week? But then I run low on bone-in and boneless meals...this is hurting my head lol
Just reintroduced them to the food -- Soxx found a non-attached piece and dragged it into a tube, then went to bed. Marley and Freya are chomping on some food in the den.

Consider- average meal in summer is one - two ounces for most females(most of ours eat one) and 2-3 oz for adult males. In a full day an average is 1-3 oz for females and 3- 5oz for makes.

As long as they are willing to eat liver they tend to self regulate. That's another reason I hand fed mine one meal a week. One loved it and the other three would only eat it pureed with the cream and hand fed. The one who loves it would eat almost all of it and the resulting diarrhea was horrendous

TBH, if I were you i'd start just giving the liver/organ one meal a week so you can get them accepting it. With just the one meal it will be easier and allow some good bonding time.

Do you think I should puree it? Or try it straight first? They ate the chicken and turkey liver, heart, etc without a problem. It seems to be the lamb they're protesting...
Tonight's meal is tongue & kidney...Maybe I should just puree everything and feed that way?

If they are eating other liver/organs fine, then just chalk it up to them not liking lamb At least the organ meats. For some reason lamb seems to be either love it or hate it with ferrets. And if that's the case then I'd not bother pureeing anything.

That bites. I have a whole bunch of lamb heart, liver, etc. They ate it fine pureed in with everything else when they ate soupies...just gave them weird poops and we figured it was because it was earlier in the switch. That was smaller amounts though... Now what the heck will I do with multiple lamb organs floating around my freezer Maybe the cat will eat it... I will try them on the lamb tongue/goat kidney tonight...but am steeling myself for them to not eat it Time to thaw out/cut up turkey/chicken organs just in case they protest or should I keep trying the lamb this week, and if they really won't eat it, THEN throw in the towel? Would missing their organ stuff for one week be too detrimental to mess with?

I brought them outside again today Hopefully it will help with appetites tonight!! Soxx seems hungry..he did his darndest to eat the kibble outside my door on the way back up...but when I brought him to the chicken instead he just stashed a piece and ran off...wth Soxx! He hasn't eaten much today Do I offer boneless tonight since I know they'll eat that? Puree the kidneys, liver, tongue etc in with some other meat and feed that or give up on lamb entirely?

Try the other lamb products before giving up on them entirely. It could just be the liver is too strongly flavored.

You can also try introducing the lamb heart by cutting it small and mixing it in with a meat that they like. Yeah I know- one step forward and two back. That's life with ferrets ;D I have, however, found that's a good way to introduce stronger flavored meats.

Tonight was goat kidney & lamb tongue (small pieces), mixed with commercial raw (turkey). And actually -- moderate success. Freya: was an utter failure. Sniffed it, ran away. I scruff-stuffed a piece of goat kidney...she spat it out again. Twice ;D Marley: licked the CR off. He got a few pieces in his mouth..the first time he made a face and spat it out. The other few times he chewed it and swallowed. Soxx: did the best. Started out just licking it, then ate pieces of (presumably) kidney and tongue. He ate maaaybe 1/2 tbsp. Both Freya & Marley have run up and sniffed the plate since then. Marley licked a few pieces...they both enjoyed climbing over the feeding den too ;D I hadn't hooked these pieces, just put the plate inside the den. Here's the pics from earlier..(haven't checked the photo thread so not sure if you saw them there)

(Freya is now eating old pieces of chicken from this morning that I caved in and gave to her because she seems so hungry and kept spitting out the organs..)

They are brats indeed...don't know the good stuff when it's brought to them on a silver platter ;D I tried stuff-scruffing some tongue with Freya...she brought it back to the den (good girl!) and spat it out...then came back to me with this look on her face like... " " She did eat about ~1/4 to 1/2 oz of lightly smashed, bone-in chicken chunks though. (however much ~1.5 tbsp is) I left ~1.5 tbsp of goat kidney & lamb tongue in the cage for the night. I switched the menu a little bit to re-introduce the lamb heart later in the week. Revised menu as follows, changes in bold (organs for now will get mixed with ~1 to 2 tbsp CR): Saturday AM chicken wings Saturday PM lamb tongue (3oz) & goat kidney (2.5 oz) Sunday AM chicken wings Sunday PM lamb heart Monday AM pork chops Monday PM lamb heart (2 oz), goat & veal kidney (2oz), 1 cgh gizzard w/CR (turkey)Tuesday AM CGH bone-in Tuesday PM chicken wings Wednesday AM lamb heart w/CR (turkey) *previously was CGH boneless* Wednesday PM CGH bone-in Thursday AM liver (2oz per ferret), CGH & lamb w/CR (turkey)Thursday PM chicken wings Friday AM CGH bone-in Friday PM chicken wings
