When you do hang it, make sure to make a number of very deep slashes to start with. That way they'll be easily able to tear pieces off without getting frustrated too quickly. If they take to it that way, problem solved

Ok I will have to remedy that...Marley looked rather mad when he tried to drag his food away and couldnt ;D
Slight menu revision as I try to get all the organs in..dropping down to 8 bone-in instead of 9 and adding one extra meal of heart & kidney to make sure they get enough -- I don't think they'll eat all 6 oz of heart in one sitting..so I'm gonna give them 5 oz tomorrow night and then 2 oz later in the week with 3 oz of kidney.
Saturday AM chicken wings Saturday PM lamb tongue (3oz) & goat kidney (2.5 oz)
Sunday AM lamb heart (5oz) Sunday PM chicken wings
Monday AM pork chops Monday PM lamb heart (2 oz), goat & veal kidney (2oz), 1 cgh gizzard
Tuesday AM CGH bone-in Tuesday PM chicken wings
Wednesday AM CGH boneless Wednesday PM CGH bone-in
Thursday AM liver (2oz per ferret), CGH & lamb Thursday PM chicken wings
Friday AM CGH bone-in Friday PM chicken wings

Oops, fed lamb heart tonight instead of kidney&tongue. will feed that in the AM. Nobody seems too thrilled about lamb heart...licked it a few times then looked at me like I was poisoning them. Then again, it was cold. Maybe they will be more receptive to it when it's reached room temperature... Nobody ate the meat I hung on the hooks either. Downfall of feeding meat on hooks: removing uneaten meat. Perhaps a trip to Walmart is in order tomorrow to find a feeding den for them....

Some do well with it, some don't For a feeding den, all you really need to start with is a cardboard box

So far, nobody's eaten any of the lamb heart I put out. Even if I scruff-and-stuff they just spit it back out again. They'll lick it a few times if I offer a piece by hand, but then look at me like, come on mom...what IS this stuff. It smells and looks fine....better than the chicken wings this morning anyway! Speaking of this morning...
Nobody really ate anything this morning either..I left about 1.5 oz on a plate in the cage for them for the night. Should I offer chicken wings in the morning instead of pushing it with the tongue & kidney? Just flip the AM and PM for tomorrow?
(Tomorrow begins the hunt for a feeding den...)

Right now, it's going to be trial and error. For the lamb heart and organs you may wind up doing what I had to do for a while Puree the meal, and add 1 tsp heavy cream per ferret then hand feed. I did that once a week with liver/kidney and hand fed our original 4.

Oh fantastic They were doing so well with the other organs...I was so enjoying NOT pureeing things again...just yesterday I was thinking to myself, "this is SO MUCH EASIER" lol washing the food processor was a chore in itself! Should I try smearing it with commercial raw first? (They didn't touch it overnight)

Hey- it can't hurt! Anything that gets them eating it. Looks like we did move a bit too fast with hanging large pieces though. You could also try hooking the meat, but having it laying on the floor of the cage where they'd usually eat it.

Cardboard box + chunks of wings on hooks = WINNARRRRRRRRRR All 3 of them are eating out of their feeding den with the meat ON HOOKS!!! I didn't think they'd all 3 eat out of this box -- thought it was a bit small -- they are proving me wrong! (Pictures later because I am SO PROUD of my little ones lol) (And the fact that they didn't eat much yesterday probably helped too ;D )

If you do, don't feel bad. I still have to smash them for mine also

haha. well i think i'mma smash them...nobody has been particularly interested. Now comes the delicate question of how...because getting meat on/off the hooks is a gross procedure

Was just looking @ the menu, trying to figure out what meal to switch out with the heart since they didn't eat it. Should it be one of the boneless meals? Like the CGH boneless?
And they still aren't eating as much as they were. I put in 2 1/2 chicken wings this morning and they ate maaaaybe one. After the little they ate yesterday, I'm rather concerned. They were very energetic yesterday -- especially when I brought them outside -- and this morning too when I let them out of the cage..
