So my vet is at least somewhat holistic- her office offers alternative treatments such as acupuncture for dogs and cats, she encourages home remedies such as pumpkin for runny stools, hairballs etc.
Anyway, Artemis has been having nasty poops on and off for a few weeks now- grainy, with a reddish/brown liquid that could either be mucous, or possibly blood (though I seriously doubt it as it would have to be very close to the exit.) The vet saw one of his poops and gave us a script for metro, which he of course refused to take. She said to let her know if he had them again.
Well I just saw him have one again Sunday, and I also saw Murder do a similar poop on Sunday and now Chell has the runs though hers doesn't look like the boys' poop at the moment. So I called the vet's office and left a message for the vet asking if she should write a script for all 6 of my fuzzles for some sort of antibiotic as it seems like whatever it is might be a contagious infection. It's quite possible one of the babies brought something home from the pet store with them.
Currently playing phone tag with the vet, but she had left a message on my phone last night saying we could try buying some sort of pro biotic product from a pet store first if we'd like, rather than having to try pumping them full of medicine. I didn't catch the name of the product on the message, is anyone familiar with a ferret safe pro biotic product I can try to amp up the good bacteria in their digestive tract? Assuming that even works to clear up whatever is going on. We're all normal aside from the poop.
