Ok so I was thinking about it the past four days and went back and the two babies I liked were still there (one girl and one boy) so I got the boy I fell in love with. He has white feet and knees and so laid back but he's kind of boring. The girl was nice too and more active but I'm partial to boys. He slept on me the whole ride home but all he does is eat drink poop and sleep. He's great with the litter box but he doesn't want to play or really explore too much and doesn't get excited by anything. It's really weird. He'll walk around a little then will lay down, doesn't matter where and try to pass out. He did love the freeze dried treats that I gave him and even slept through having his nails cliped. He was very content to just lay on my arm being held at the store and everywhere around the house. Oh if you blow in his face lightly he tries to lick your face. This is the oddest ferret that I've come across yet.

He got something on his fur so I desided to clean him up in the sink and the running water really peaked his interest.. He tried to run into the stream of water so I pushed him back and he kept trying to get close with his front paws out streached while I waited for the temp to get just right. Luckily I was able to destract him with a cuped hand of water lol
He didn't mind getting wet at all and thought afterward made a perfect poop then nap time.

Congrats on the new baby! He is adorable! Could he be sick? In the picture he doesn't seem too alert. Kits need to sleep a lot because they are growing, but a normal healthy kit i usually hyperactive when awake. :S Some other options that come to mind: Shelter shock? depression from leaving cage mate Waardenbuers or some other genetic/congentical/mental deficit of some sort?

Hi, and you've got an adorable boy there ! Katt's right- if all that he's doing, there's a chance he's ill, or very depressed at being separated from his cage mate. What was he like in the store?

He is so cute!!
I agree about the illness. I just got a kit too, and she is awake for 3-5 hours at a time before snoozing. She moves at hyperspeed for every minute she is awake. Shell nap for 30-40 minutes, and wake up and repeat. He could miss his litter mates, and be depressed.

At the pet store he walked around a little then went to sleep both times I went, more sleeping than not, really. Today he seems a lot more active, he's exploring the playpen, digging and played for a bit but he's been eating a lot and will have his whole upper body in the bowl, he hissed earlier when I was petting him while eating. If I put my hand in the food he'll go over and start eating and if he's already eating he'll do it more aggressively if I put my hand near it. He didn't show any possessiveness with food when he was at the store tho but he was the smallest one.
I know my adam would do that everytime I gave him his favorite treats. I'm not too worried about the behavior as he should calm down once he realizes no ones going to take it away.

i find that when they are so small like that sometimes they don't even know how to play yet and they just kind of walk around sniffing. they sleep alot more when they are babies. he'll get the hang of it. he's a cutie.

This is the oddest ferret that I've come across yet. When I brought SoCo home he was the same way.. Im not sure if he is growing confidance from being here a week and 2 days now OR if it comes from me putting him on raw but on friday night he finally started perking up and playing and being a rambunctious little kit, by saturday he was pretty insane. Now (tuesday) he is nearly unstoppable, lol. I love every second of that though because I was starting to worry he missed the two ferts he was with at PetCo.

Sounds to me like a bit of "shelter shock". In this case it's really a misnomer. It's actually too much has happened in too short a time and the fuzz is too young. By the way, he is adorable....really cute. Once he starts eating and has slept a week or so he should pick up and start his trouble making. He was just too young. His body and his mind is shocked that's all. Give him lots of loving....from the sound of the hissing in the food bowl there is a ferret hidden in that numb fuzzy brain of his. Watch him closely for loose stools and dehydration. His body has had a major shock, which does terrible for his immune system. Little fuzzs often come down with various weird ailments that can take them down hard at this time. Don't be surprised though if you suddenly have a little hellion on your hands in a week or two ciao

that next day his personality started to show. It took a few days but now hes all about playing, sleeping (usually on the bed with me) and nipping/hissing at me. he doesn't apply a lot of pressure when he nips its more like mouthing. when i pick him up and move him from areas i don't want him in he throws a hissing fit, literally walking around me hissing non-stop. Yesterday i had a frosty and he was hissing like there was no tomorrow because i wouldn't give it to him. Hopefully he figures out that throwing a fit wont get you what you want. Also he hates cages. As soon as i put him in a carrier for my move from pa to nj his waking moments were filled with crying, bar chewing and scratching until he passed out. today i gave him a pogo rabbit in my lap and he put it down but when i gave it back he took it and he started screaming like crazy. I've never seen any ferret do this or be quite so vocal in general. tomorrow i'm going to see if i can find some mini chicken wings for him.

Kenai was pretty vocal when eh came home. He has quieted down quite a bit though. HE used to whimper and cry a lot, and huff when he was playing or make little squeaky noises. No screaming though thankfully. I do miss the talking noises though. They were so cute.
