I was wondering if it might have something to do with him being deaf, like maybe he has communication issues or something.

Fun-Go (who is a deafie) is accepted in his business, but by no one else. In that business there is only 1 ferret who can hear. Fun-Go does not appear to read body language properly, does not understand when another ferret is submitting, pushes too hard, bites too hard, plays too rough. He screams when he's having fun and often dooks when he's scared. It is entirely possible that your wee boy is similar and misreads other ferrets. He probably had a bad experience with another ferret at sometime but has written off all other ferrets. His evacuating his bowels under the stress of meetings indicates that he is very frightened and would sooner put up an aggressive front than make friends ciao

Aww, well, think of it this way: You tried & gave it your best under the best of circumstances. Now there will be no doubt in your mind that "well, what if..." You KNOW that he is meant to be an only ferret and sometimes that's just how it goes. You can always live vicariously through us for other ferret antics and Remus will thank you for recognizing that he is an only ferret. He will be very happy with you I know

Oh, I am bummed for both of you. But he is who he is and he is lucky he has such a good mom who is attentive to what he needs and can give it to him. I think Mimsy is deaf and she definitely sends mixed signals to NIbs all the time. She is always hissing, and I really don't think she is mad, she chatters and dooks at times that don't always make sense. Fortunately Nibsy is a patient little man who rolls with it and seems to like her regardless of her confusing lingo.

He is one of the mute deafies, he only makes noise sometimes if he squeaks in his sleep and he accidentally dooked once. lol

Steve was the guy we met up with. He was very nice and I liked him and the shelter. We tried Remus with Radar and Rocky, both were a no go. All well. As long as he's happy, I suppose. He has had two greenish poops since coming back but they don't look runny and they're not BRIGHT green. He's had green poops before as well so atm I'm not too worried but definitely keeping an eye on them.

Those are likely just stress poops from the trip.

Again, im so sorry Rachel. Don't feel like it was a defeat trip. Really, it just confirmed that your baby is special. Least you have time with him, and such. It is a disappointment, because he will be bored to death, but--least he chose YOU. Thats the most important thing.

He doesn't HAVE to be bored to death... My solo foster Mika is perfectly happy as a clam by herself. Plays herself silly and I provide as much enrichment for her as I can. YOU become the ferret friend!

Sorry Heather- somehow missed your question! Yes, both my highly territorial and aggressive ferrets are deaf DEW's.

Steve is awesome isn't he!!! Still though, Steve even is great at pairing. Radar is good with other ferrets but she is not fond of boys. Rocky i thought might be a little to rough for Remus in the first place but ah well, How about i keep you posted on newcomers? maybe we can find a fuzz that is very calm with other ferrets like one we had just adopted out that was a non marshall, he loved other ferrets. we need to find you a young fuzz like Roscoe!
