He is just rarin' to go, definitely back to his old self, he was playing and war dancing this morning and just had a poo. We are gonna be on our way in twenty minutes or so!

Well, I guess he is an only ferret. We tried him with two and he immediately went after both--not in a dominant way, in a way meant to cause harm. It sucks. I really wanted him to have a friend and I feel like the drive was a huge waste. Bleh.

I'm sorry We've got one like that, too. She will always be an only ferret. But- at least now you KNOW that he doesn't want or need any friends beyond you.

Yeah. On the way home though, we stopped at a rest stop and walked him around a little bit. Some little kid asked to pet him and I told him to pet him carefully on the back, so of course the kid reached straight for his face. Remus took it all in stride and sniffed at the kid's hands and was a sweetheart. So he's a great ferret ambassador, he's just not so good with other fuzz.

so of course the kid reached straight for his face. Best way to prevent that is to hold him and offer the back end for any petting

Oh no. Are you guys sure it wasn't just rough play? I know that it can look rather violent while they are sorting out the pecking order.
I wonder, would he do better with a kit. Less threatening. Something to consider.

The guy seemed really knowledgeable and he was convinced it was NOT play. Also after we removed the first ferret Remus peed and pooped which I know is a bad sign. His first shelter mom tried and I tried again, I think I will call it good. He must just think he is hoomin.

It is disappointing that I won't get to watch ferret antics but it is also lovely because I get ALL HIS LOVE TO MYSELF.

Unfortunately, shelters would indeed recognise a ferret h*llbent on bad intent. I've known a number of ferrets who are like this. They live solo. There's nothing you can do, it's the way they're put together. Strangely enough, they're usually DEWs....does that work for your wee girlie too, Sherry? ciao
