I am a little concerned about Remus. He's not small, and he's eating well. But in his hind end, you can feel his hipbones/spine and see them a little bit. That's the only spot that seems thin, though. It's just odd to me. He has a little belly on him when he sits, but that little bit of thinness weirds me out. Picture for reference. You can see that he's not lacking in belly, but you can also kind of see the hipbones if you look for them. At first I thought he may have a swollen belly from worms but his stool sample came up negative and the vet didn't say anything about it.

Most of my males look like that in the summer time. Except for a few that stay chubby all year round.

He looks good to me. He should be going into summer mode and weigh less and look a bit thinner. Weights are really not important because it's in direct relation to the size of the ferret itself. Minion weighs 5lbs....he's fat, bordering obese and should weigh about 3/4lbs. Atreyu his companion weighs 2lbs (and change) and he's a good weight for the size of his frame. ciao

Okay, good. I am slowly calming down but as a first time ferrent I freak out about a lot of little silly things.

He looks ok to me, if you're overly concerned re-weigh him once a month and monitor trends. And remember that they tend to lose weight in the spring.

You can add skin or straight up fat to his mix if you'd like him to gain weight

How much of the raw is he eating now? When switched from kibble to raw, they are no longer getting the carbs, and will drop weight before starting to pack on the muscle.

Sorry- should have asked this at the same time. Is he still eating any kibble? It's when the kibble is drastically decreased or removed that the weight starts dropping. That combined with spring weight loss can appear pretty dramatic.

No kibble since Sunday and I think before that he hadn't had it in a couple days. Today he's gone through 1.8oz already (it's one in the afternoon here) so no more worries about him eating enough. ;D
