One of you great Independent Pet Store People out there sent me a 'heads up' that their Distributor would not be delivering any products made by Diamond Pet Food; though she received no explanation why. I called Diamond and was told...

Paraphrasing 'In light of the recent Diamond Pet Food Recall, out of precaution Diamond is suspending delivery of all products made at the Diamond South Carolina facility until more information is available.' Told to me by Julie, Diamond Pet Food Representative.

Julie did not have a list of Diamond manufactured foods made at the South Carolina Plant. She suggested if a pet owner has a question if the food was made at the South Carolina Diamond Pet Food plant, please contact the respective company.

Foods made by Diamond Pet Food (though not confirmed to be made at the South Carolina Plant)
Solid Gold
Canidae/Felidae
Natural Balance
Kirkland (Costco Brand)
Chicken Soup
Taste of the Wild

No other information was provided. Julie was very open and did not hesitate to share this with me. I thank Diamond Pet Food for the openness.

A quick perusal of Google says it's Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice. Possible salmonella contamination, with the fear that owners could contract salmonella from handling the kibble.

unfortunately that plant is actually 20 minutes from me. When I drive in the town where its located, the stench of kibble cooking is so awful that you feel like barfing. No kidding.

I saw all the Diamond packaged food and I thought to myself "I'll never forget the smell plus they could be cooking horses in there, so no Diamond food ever for any pet.."

Taste of the Wild is a high quality food that I feed to my dogs. If you have ever cooked your own kibble style foods, they stink! I've made foods for several species and the cooking process has a stinch that isn't to be forgotten, even with high quality ingredients.

Yeah, that's one of my key comments when talking to people about natural diets vs kibble: " When was the last time you opened a bag of kibble, took in the aroma and said, "Oh my - that smells wonderful!"? So far EVERY ONE has said , "Never! - Kibble smells awful!" Then I ask," Well if it smells that bad going IN - it's no wonder the animal begins to smell and lord knows their deposits are gonna smell awful too!"

The soup I make for them NEVER smell horrible - simply smells like cooking chicken minus any spices.

Sorry taste of the wild is not high quality. It killed several dogs a few years ago and was involved in a recall.
