The world lost a true fighter last night at 5:45 pm. Keawea overcame blindness, a stroke, and an enormous tumor and lived and died on her own terms. She now runs tandem with her brother Rascal "Bud" "Clyde" Ranger. They got the nicknames Bonny and Clyde almost immediately for their theiving ways. Keawea, all 1 lb of her, could pick up a grown man's boot and hightaill across the room to her stash. Rascal had a thing for cell phones. My father started calling Rascal Bud, so Keawea quickly became Bud Lite (Rascal had not yet gone white). Rascal passed 6 months ago and Keawea was already sick at that point. She was switched to a grain-free diet and did better for a while. She was later put on Reishi, RNA, and B vitamins to assist her with a mast cell tumor (or what I believed to be one at the time) After Rascal died in August, Keawea took over his place as the cuddle bear and even slept with me on my chest a few times, which was amazing. I'll miss everything about her-even the 3 AM trips to walmart for more gauze pads and the mad search for a store carrying her favorite flavor of canned cat food to mix meds in. SHe was worth everything and so much more. We believe she had a stroke (she also had one some weeks ago) as one minute she was whipping up on her treats and the next she was gone. CPR and mouth to mouth were to no avail. Keawea would have turned 7 April 25th. She will be privately cremated and placed in my room next to her brother's urn in what is now basically their shrine. Creepy as it may sound, I have kissed Rascal's urn every night since he died and will do the same for her when her ashes are returned. I believe in animal reincarnation after speaking with a pet communicator who just blew me away with facts she couldn't have known after my border collie died (and lots of predictions that came true after I brought home my Pomchi), and I will keep paying my respects until they are back with me. I also light a candle nightly. It's my way of showing them they are not forgotten. I will miss my little girl with all my heart, and of course her brother as well, untill we meet again. Sleep sweetly my baby girl and Mommy's so sorry she couldn't help you more

I am so sorry to hear about Keawea. You did all you could, and Keawea knows that! Dook in peace, little one.

A candle is lit to guide the little paws of another furry "heart-thief". So many have followed this path in so short a time. Many claim that their journey is done but it is just beginning. A new adventure awaits Keawea and she will not be walking alone. Do not mourn a passing but rejoice as a new life is now beginning. Enjoy the times that were shared. A fuzz would never want to cause grief, they are about life and living. They are for the day. Remember your two little heart thieves but don't shut your eyes or your heart. They walk with you always and need you to open your heart so that you will not only see and hear them while they play near you but to be prepared when once again they will dance with you on the physical plain. Goodbye sweet Keawea, roam free of pain and fear. You were such a brave little fighter, you are missed. ciao
