Did Dara tell you this personally because unless I missed it I don't see an announcement anywhere on the site. I have never tried the patties but I do buy the Chicken and Beef nibblets for mine and they LOVE both varieties. It is cheaper too. If you buy 12 large patties of AFS you only get 24 oz for $27.60. You get 21 oz for only 19.10 if you get the nibblets. Much better value

Dara is the lady who runs Casey's Hidden Pantry. She is Snapper13 over at ferret.com forum.
I don''t have facebook personally so that explains why I didn't know. It would be helpful if she posted the actual site news on her site and not just facebook.
I wouldn't be too worried though just get the Nibblets instead.
Emilee has gotten the patties for her kids when she first started trying to switch them and said they were pretty hard compared to Stella and Chewy's and did not rehydrate as well.
So something like that could be the reason. My main guess is just simply a lack of popularity. I will shoot her an e-mail and see what else she knows.

Oooh. Ok. So now I know who Dara is. LOL. I order a lot from them (the dog and ferrets food). But yes you are right they only put that on facebook. I hadn't noticed that I figured it was on the website too. They posted on Facebook that in a few weeks Stella and chewy's is coming out with their feline freeze dried formula.

I'm glad they're including heart in another formula. I believe chicken and duck don't have heart in them.

I got a response from Dara at Casey's Hidden Pantry and it is all good news. She gave me permission to post this as well.
Hi Jessica,
No, the AFS patties are not being discontinued. I can see how there may be some confusion, though, because they are changing the recipe for the Beef and Chicken blend. AFS is reducing the amount of beef organs in the blend, thereby changing the name to Chicken and Beef blend - as is directed by AAFCO. AAFCO requires the name to be indicative of the products in the food, and since there will be a higher percentage of chicken in the new blend, the name will have to be changed to Chicken and Beef, as opposed to Beef and Chicken.
I hope that makes sense.
CHP has the last of the old Beef and Chicken blend. We have 4 rolls of the large patties left, and 13 packs of the small patties.
Also, we were at the Chicago Pet Expo this past weekend and had the chance to talk with Stella and Chewy's in person. We are VERY excited that their new feline formulas are in production and slated to come out in the next 4-6 weeks. The new feline are similar to the former feline - 100% meat/bone/organ. Instead of patties, they come in little mini marshmallow shapes, similar to the S&C Crunch treats. The blends I saw were: Chicken, Chicken and Beef, Chicken and Salmon, and Beef. Once they become available, CHP will start stocking it.
Hope that makes sense. Feel free to contact us with questions whenever you want.
-Dara
