It's veggies??!! I don't imagine it would harm but I don't think it would do any good either. I don't think considering what it's main ingredients are, algae....I think you would be wasting your money. Jennifer?? ciao

Shot her a message just in case she misses this one I'm thinking it's *possible* they might get something from it in the same way they gain benefits from reishi and EVOO? Definitely not nutrition, but maybe from the antioxidants, etc?

Yes! I do feed some greens and mineral supplements. In fact, all commercial mink farms feed kelp to improve fur quality. Studies have demonstrated benefits in mink from the addition of greens to the diet. Moreover, feral ferrets do eat some small amounts of berries/fruits when they get them. So, not, a good product of greens is not a waste. The greens were recommended by my holistic vet as he felt they would improve my feeding program
I highly recommend under-dosing mineral supplements, and I also highly recommend rotating mineral sources/products.
For example - if a cat should get 1/4 tsp, the recommended ferret dose would be 1/8 tsp. i would give 1/16 instead.
You need to use the kelps/seaweeds/marine algae sparingly because these are high in iodine
Some of the calcium supplements I have been giving over the years include:
Nano-greens or other Super-greens, kelp, marine algae, chlorella, etc. (greens) Nupro ferret (lots of kelp, so use less) (vitamins/minerls/greens) mezotrace special pet formula (natural earth minerals) powdered eggshell (almost 100% calcium) bonus velvet antler (use sparingly - approx. 1/4 treat per week.) monmorillonite or bentonite (detox clays)
As with regular food, the mineral supplements should be rotated to ensure a broad spectrum of requirements are met in addition to not overloading on any one thing.

i bought some - then read flax seed is not digestible by ferrets - then started thinking about how much liver is in it - so they get about 2 scoops mixed in soup nightly.

The problem with flax is many ferrets have allergic reactions to it. Mainly comes out in the form of extreme itching.
