I use a small piece of freeze dried as a treat. Pixie loves the stuff - she acts like it's crack or something I tried the home made dehydrated treats, but they weren't into them. I might try again now that they eat raw better. I also use olive oil as a treat. Both of mine love it.

Extra virgin is best. But sometimes I use regular virgin olive oil. They don't seem to mind the change. Extra virgin is supposed to help protect against heliobactor which causes ulcers.

Oh wow Olive oil? I'm going to have to try that. I've been wanting to find a food dehydrator for ages to make treats for Rufus because I figured that would be much healthier than store bought treats :-)

you can make your own jerky in the oven set on low with the door open some. i did it in my old oven, which was like 20 years old, set on around 150F and it took over 5 hours. so be sure if you are going to try it, make sure you have awhile, and i guess it doesn't matter if it's completely dry for me anyway, since I'm not eating it.

Just to give everyone a heads up on getting the olive oil. Make sure it's a brand you can get ALL they time- I switched brands, and the little terrors wouldn't TOUCH it So I had to go back to the store and get "their" brand. Of course it was one of the more expensive ones I'd gotten on sale

As for the fish oil, check in the pharmacy section. Most now have an area for supplements. I actually found salmon oil in there today!

i have a dehydrator and a jerky gun. I used the ground meats from hare-today. note some meats will smell up the house more than others and it can take a long time but rabbit was the favorite of my guys. Before that i bought dogswell vitality and used dehydrated/freeze dried meats. Any meat would work tho.

No, unfortunately, rawhides are simply blockages waiting to happen. They are that for dogs, as well

Rawhides = no no. You can try some chicken feet as treats, along with dehydrated meat bits and freeze dried foods.

I tried that. Koda would not touch them. Made some in my Mom's dehydrator... Koda can't get enough! A dehydrator is nice because you can set it outside. I was gagging when I made them over Christmas break at my Mom's house. The smell is horrible. *pukes* Once you get it done though it is great to have them around!

when looking for a good dehydrator read reviews on amazon and check for cheaper prices on ebay. I got a pretty good deal on mine a nesco snackmaster.
