I'm so sorry for your loss =/ he was a cute little guy though... looks like he had a pretty good life. That last picture of him wet with the ears sticking up was adorable.

I don't believe it was your fault. I was irresponsible as a kid and had hamsters. I would forget to feed them often (only a day at a time thankfully). Hamsters are like mice, they generally don't live too long. I've had several die for no reason, and one die because she choked on her food. As someone else said, they stash their food so I'm sure he was fine. It may have been he was sick or it was just his time.
Either way, I'm sorry for your loss. <3 RIP Hamlet

I'm so sorry for your loss of Hamlett, Katt. These little guys burrow and make nests in our hearts and when they leave them it's so unfair. Don't feel like it is your fault - these little critters will eat what they like best first out of a mix but they will eventually eat the stuff they don't like as much if you don't keep refreshing the bowl with the normal food each day. *hugs you*

Katt, I am so sorry for your loss! If I were you, I wouldn't blame yourself. You did the best you could, and he knows and appreciates that. These little animals are fragile. Life is never as easy for them.

Thanks guys. I forgot to add. For the two nights after he died (and maybe longer but I didn't drive by at night after that bc I was staying at Shane's) the constellation Orion was standing perfectly over Hamlet's grave. Like he was standing guard. He (Orion) was lined up perfectly with the grave spot, and standing upright just over the tree line. I thought that was kind of neat. Now he s slowly rising up. Orion will rise up, then rotate down and go kind of sideways/upside down on the other side of the sky. It is my favorite constellation.

That's actually pretty amazing I used to look for Orion every night on my way to work
