Our new littly guy is REALLY little, he was born 12.12.10.
As some of you know, I have been terribly worried about Mojito.. I think he has adrenal, I just found out Saturday night that a vet a little north of me has saturday hours so I will be getting him in ASAP to see said vet but my fiancee (who said no more ferts, two is more than enough) was sweet enough to take Kahlua, Mojito and myself to 'look' and see the kits we heard they had on sale at PetCo yesterday. I had explained to my fiancee about how ferrets can get super depressed when alone and cross the rainbow bridge and that I was worried that it would happened to one of ours if we lost the other. I have been explaining to him about what I think is wrong with Mojito and even though I am taking Mojito to the vet, my fiancee the ever realist said 'its only a matter of time, Mojito is older than Kahlua' and we agreed to think about adding another ferret, but I never thought it would be *now*... So going in with the mindset that we were just looking, we headed into PetCo.
Mojito and Kahlua seemed over joyed when they were playing and sniffing a small maybe chocolate/maybe champagn/maybe gray (it really depends on the lighting) fuzz ball with a beautiful blaze down his face. This particular kit did nothing but lick me and my fiancee and snuggle against us when we held him. My fiancee looks at me and says, "Do you want him?" and I think I felt the world shift as I entered this strange new galaxy where my fiancee is ok with three ferts in one home, and buying one on the spot with out even thinking about it. Of course, I nodded. On the way home we tossed around names, I held him in the petco box while Mojito and Kahlua rode in their crate between my feet. We ended up calling him the spanish for 'bigheaded' (his head is really big, lol.. i mean normally over sized but its still funny/cutely oversized enough to earn him the nickname) and 'little one', since hes soo tiny, most of his first night with us, though I think he will end up with the name Southern Comfort/SoCo.
Of course he pooped on the carride home and it got all over him and I had to bath him when I got him home, when I put him in the fert room with a very excited Kahlua and Mojito, they rushed over like little parents and groomed him all over. All seemed well.... and then Kahlua seemed to realize he wasnt just there to 'visit'. She started going right for his neck and he makes a noise like a baby cow when aggitated, it is rediculously adorable- though it scared me at first... and it doesnt seem like he can hiss, he opens his mouth like a his but its more of a whistle that comes out. These noises seemed to further frustrated Kahlua and the downward spiral began. Now they are in seperate cages though I am going to try some advice that TTFR gave me and hopefully that calms her/them down. I dont understand her sometimes- he was like the best thing since sliced bread... until she realized he was staying. **SIGH** Annnyway, here he is-
When she attacks him he comes running for me squeeling and shaking and so I took him in to the kitchen and tried some baby food with him, he took right too it and (although it ticked Kahlua off more) he jumped right in and started eating rawmeat soupies with them, I was thrilled about it though lol:
He is tiny enough to sleep in my hand (which he does a lot, though he prefers my chest):
And then this morning I felt bad because he is by his lonesome soo I took him into the bathroom with me while I was getting ready for work:
So thats him, I shoulda taken pictures while he was devouring the soupie but I was too busy fighting Kahlua off- lol. He is so precious it isnt even funny! I hope I can get him and Kahlua to get along eventually- I am taking is slow though. I knew kits pooped a lot, but jesus lord he is a poop machine! Also, side note, I was amazed at how healthy is poops are considering they had him on (of course) marshalls. I still have some so I am mixing it with Evo and since it still has to be mush I am putting in baby food and soupie too, juuust a little. He still has great poop
