I've also got some tiny Marshall's girls. And a boy who's smaller than my others as well.

OY VEY sadly I am not surprised Marshall farms drives me batty, all 3 of my ferts are Marshalls but I only got one at a pet store (Freya -- I didn't know any better). The two boys I rescued from a woman who was desperately looking to re-home them. Why would Freya be so tiny? I know females are more diminutive, but that's a huuuge difference! I've had very tiny Marshals ferrets, actually some breeders breed something they call micros. Heather (lorelei) has a couple. Less than a pound. They have their own special health issues . Marshals for a time was breeding something of a micros ferret. Was it intentional, probably as people would be more inclined to think they were still "baby" ferrets. My wee Lady Natasha weighs a whole pound this year on winter weight (doesn't mean that she's any more pleasant to get along with...nasty wee thing ;D) Boris weighs just under 2 lbs, but I think some of his issues is having all sorts of birth defects. I had a wee boy named Mischief, he weighed in a whole 1lb 6 oz. That's an ok size for a wee sprite but not so much a jib. This is Mischief with Baby Napoleon. Napoleon is about 4 months old in this pic. The little ferret is Mischief a 10 yr old marshals ciao

@yu78 -- that was Freya's opinion on the subject. Everything I'm thinking contains an expletive, so I'll leave it at that.

Our young ones are shedding their teeth! I have found at least 8 teeth on the carpet - is this a normal process for 9 week olds? If this is teething - should I b doing anything to help them?

From this source www.dentalvet.com/vets/ferrets/ferret_dentistry.htm"Ferrets have thirty baby and thirty-four adult teeth. All baby teeth should be in by three months, and lost by nine months of age." And from another source: www.ferretcentral.org/faq/history.html#teeth"The permanent dentition is 2(I3/3 C1/1 P3/3 M1/2) = 34, however, the number of incisors is still variable. Missing or extra incisors are common. The permanent teeth erupt from 50 to 74 days of age in the following sequence: About 50 days: Upper Canines, Lower Canines, 1st Molar About 53 days: Upper 1st Molar About 60 days: Upper 2nd/3rd/4th Premolar, Lower 2nd Premolar About 67 days: Lower 3rd Premolar About 74 days: Lower 4th Premolar, 2nd Molar" So it sounds pretty normal. 9 weeks would be 63 days

Thanks so much for posting this article. I had been worried about my Ophelia's age since I got her from Beverly's. She wasn't quite full size but she was close and she is also a mini, very petite for her age. I read the part about this not always being accurate but her teeth look to be the comparisons of between 3 and four, with just the tips of her fangs showing transparency, and I've had her for four years now so I'm pretty confident it's true with her. I believe Baby Willow is teething, I can't testify to how old he is. I'm going to start offering them chicken wings next week and I'm praying this somewhat satisfies both of their chewing habits.

I'm going to guess Crash at about4 or 5, Jeremy at about 2, maybe 3 and Momo I'm guessing about 6 or 7. Reflections make it harder to pin the translucency vs just age and wear colouring. You want the translucency not the darkening above it. I just looked at them again and I think that's fairly close judging from the photos. ciao

I guess it is good to know that Petco told me the truth about Jeremy. The others actual ages are older than the shelter thought. I suppose Momo is doing pretty well for WS boy.

If it's only one tooth I would say an infection, but I'm not positive. I don't think he's only a hear old though. Poor boy.

Not sure about an infection- but that needs a professional cleaning before he loses it.
