I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you looking for a way to get emails when someone replies to a thread, or a way to reply from your email?

She's wondering if she can opt in somehow to get an email notification to let her know when someone replies to a thread she posted in.

No, there isn't. What you have to do is bookmark the thread. Then when you come back online, go to your profile and click bookmarks.

awww I c ok, yeah I didn't know if the board had that feature or not. Sometimes I am away from home so it makes it easier to reply if I had it sent via email, but i'll bookmark and check then. Not a biggie  |

If you'd like to receive notifications, what you need to do is bookmark the thread.
Then go to your profile, click bookmarks, and select the manage bookmark link at the top right. There you can choose which threads you want to receive notifications.
If you scroll to the bottom of your bookmarks, you can set a default setting for all bookmarked threads.
