Parrish Creek Veterinary Clinic Douglas Folland, DVM Centerville, UT (801) 298-2014 parrishcreekvet.com/Dr. Folland has worked with ferrets for over 20 years. He attends conferences and reads new publications to keep up-to-date on ferret related topics and care. He has been supportive of me feeding my ferrets a raw/whole prey diet. He is the only vet I trust to care for my ferrets. I have also worked for him for 7 years.

McKnight 24 hour Veterinary Hospital Dr. Shelby Kimura Calgary, Alberta 403-457-0911 www.mcknightvethospital.caDr. Kimura has seen and owned ferrets for many years. She is vice pres. of the rescue here F.R.E.S. She attends conferences, and has recently studied cryosurgery for ferrets with adrenal in the right side glands. She has a very good success rate with these surgeries. While she admits raw/whole prey is the ideal diet, we...disagree about it from time to time. They are open 24/7, appointments from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week. There is always a ferret knowledgable sugeon either on duty there, or on call.

dr walter (she's great) or dr wagner (he's the 'expert'). both are excellent surgeons!!
will give lupron & melatonin and also offers deslorelin
pricing is very reasonable & they discount office visit if you bring more than one pet. open m-f and saturday mornings; have a vet on call evenings & weekends (for patients only).horsham veterinary hospital
www.horshamvet.com/
dr edling is fabulous - extremely knowledgeable and especially about adrenal disease.
she's the only one that sees ferrets and she's not in every day, so, getting an appt can sometimes be a problem. she's very likely to return your calls at any time of the day/night - has even contacted me to follow up with things when she was on vacation. she's wonderful all around. she has an excellent rep as a fantastic surgeon (i've not had need go to her for surgery yet).
does lupron/melatonin.
a little higher priced than the other - especially with meds. they have the laser equipment for surgeries.

Dr. Sperlich Browns Point Veterinary Clinic 6720 E Side Dr NE Ste 4 Tacoma, WA 98422 (253) 927-1323
She's an absolutely wonderful vet, working with exotics and the standard cats n dogs, I was recommended to her by a local ferret shelter and don't ever want to take my ferrets anywhere else. She has a background in traditional and naturopathic medicine (they do acupuncture too) and is very caring and thorough, willing to discuss/research alternative treatment options if you have ideas too. She's fairly educated on raw feeding but doesn't really recommend it since many people won't do the required research to do it right, but I can have good conversations with her about it. They sell EVO products in office, and Ovana's lupron ran $39 a month w/no office charge, a regular check up ran about $40 for my other kids...very reasonable pricing. It's a small clinic, she's the only vet there with a couple of techs...even so, she takes as much time as you need to make sure your pet's getting the right kind of attention and that all your questions and concerns are answered.

Dr. Ramsell is acknowledged for her help and expertise in Ferrets for Dummies, 2nd Edition. She is an internationally recognized ferret expert. My first impression on taking my pet mouse to her was that her office was filled to the brim with ferret awards and cute photos, even a statue made of her with ferrets all over her. She is very nice, and very professional. This coming from someone with very bad experience with female veterinarians, I can honestly say I trust Dr. Ramsell's opinion as she genuinely cares about the patients in her care, not just about selling drugs and commercial foods like so many other vets. Her exam fee is worth it, as she spent a good 45 minutes or more examining my mouse and talking with us about her condition.

Dr. Kathleen Cavell Northwood Animal Hospital Tallahassee, FL
Dr. Cavell is great because she is willing to do research and call colleagues! She's also great about follow-up phone calls and keeping you involved. She's willing to experiment a little, like giving Brady Des implants before he shows signs of adrenal. She is young so her experiences are limited compared to those who have been practicing for 30 years, but she's not stuck in her ways and I find that refreshing! She's also not against the raw diet

Dr. Thompson East Side Animal Clinic Evansville Indiana 47715 812-477-3826 www.eastsideah.com/He sees all sorts of exotics plus cats and dogs, not sure how he feels about raw diet.. I havent brought that up yet but he is big on vaccinations, heart worm prevention, believes surgery is the best option for adrenal disease. He attends all sorts of conferences and meetings about exotic animals and he's pretty knowledgable. He definently gives you your moneys worth. Each health exam is 30-40 minutes. Prices are reasonable, and he's always willing to call you back and answer questions if you have them. So far I like him.

I live in Harrisburg, PA and there are only 2 vets (that I know of) that treat ferrets.
I take my guys to:
Capitol Area Animal Medical Center Dr. Saju Karuvayil-Mathew, DVM 6 North Progress Avenue Harrisburg, PA 17109 717-652-0713
Dr. Mathew has a great bedside manner and truly cares about my little guys. He's also conscious of the owner (and their pocketbook) and won't order expensive procedures unless required.
I think there may be another vet at that practice that sees ferrets, but I've never seen them. Dr. Mathew also advocates feeding raw.
***I have not used the following vet and, frankly, haven't heard great things about them in general.****
I had contacted a local ferret rescue about who their vet is and they said they use:
Colonial Park Animal Clinic Dr. Todd Rubey 905 Jonestown Road Harrisburg, PA 17109 717-540-7140 905 Jonestown Road Harrisburg, PA 17109

South Florida (east coast Miami-Dade and Broward County) Dr. Amanda Grant, DVM. excellent ferret vet! highly recommend. I was impressed with her. Dr. Grant is the vet for the Broward Ferret Rescue. she also works out of the ER clinics after 6 p.m. and weekends. I think she also makes house calls in broward county. Dr. Grant uses deslorelin for treatment and prevention of ACD. she does not frown on a raw diet as long as it is well balanced. Dr. Grant has also owned ferrets for many years. (954) 778-8908 website: www.lapoflove.com/vet-biography.aspx?vet=54 Dr. Susan Keheller at Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital (comments: ferret knowledgeable. uses deslorelin for treatment and for prevention of ACD) (954) 753-2390 1730 North University Drive, Coral Springs, Florida Dr. David Stelling (305) 278-2028. Dr. Stelling knows alot about ferrets. Dr. Don J. Harris at avian & exotic medical center 6380 S Dixie Hwy Miami, FL 33156 (305) 234-2473

Dr. Edman at Countryside Animal Hospital in Granby, MA:
164 West State Street Granby, MA 01033 (413) 467-1300
She is a good vet though not super raw friendly- when I was taking my guys there they were not eating raw, and she sort of advised against it, but mostly because she was concerned I didn't have all the info on how to give them a balanced diet (at the time I really, really didn't).
That being said, I had a very hard time finding a good vet that I trusted in that area, so I thought she deserved to be on the list even though she wasn't knowledgeable about raw. I would still be taking my guys to her today, if I hadn't had to move.

Dr. Sue Liszewski at TLC First Animal Hospital 6468 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60631 Phone:773-631-0706 Fax:773-631-0760 www.tlcfirst.comShe's a really good vet, takes a holistic approach to animal care. Dr. Sue is also one of the vets who provides advice on the Ferret Health List. She's really good with animals and her office is just amazing, it doesn't feel like a vet's office at all. She has two dogs, Zeke and Bruno, who are the doggy ambassadors at the clinic, but they're extremely well trained and well behaved. I have nothing but good to say about her and her way of working with animals. She'll take the time to talk to you and explain anything you have questions about. I wholly recommend her to anyone who's in the Chicago Area.
