Are unscented baby wipes safe for ferrets? That's what I've been using to wipe down their cage before using a water/vinegar mix. If it's bad, then I'll throw them out.

Shedeivl, just don't let them in the room you treat in. If you have them on a separate floor entirely it would be even better, but otherwise keep the door closed to your treatment room. And konotashi, unscented are fine

Okay, whew. I was sitting here, panicking, wiping down their cage with the vinegar mix to get rid of anything the baby wipes may have tainted. LOL

It is airborne as well, but no reason you can't keep exposure to a minimum

Thanks for the post I never even thought of ferret proofing my purse. These tips will help with the new little girls, they chew everything! Out of all the scented items in my purse peanut only ever wanted to use my travel hairbrush as a chew toy. It was one of the ones with a jelly type handle. Thank goodness he never had the chance to eat any of it. Caught him just in time. He had the death grip on it. It would take me scruffing him and someone to pry his mouth open to get the brush out. Determined little boy, after a few times I just gave up and threw the brush in the trash.

I am missing a small scented candle from my dining room. I'm going to have to go search for it now!

Are Ferrets deathly allergic to perfumes? Homemade and store bought? If they were to lick you after you out it on?

When you say poisonous hand sanitizer a, do you only mean fresh hand sanitizer?
Sometimes we use that and then a few minutes later feed them. The hand sanitizer is dried already obviously on our hands before touching the meat.

Hello. If a Ferret got a hold of a qtip that had tea tree oil on it, would that cause death? If he chewed on it or stepped on it?

I would rinse feet and also keep tree oil in different room. I guess every sniff is on its way to building up liver toxicity. I have never smelled tree oil, but if it is pungent, i think he would not chew it.
( I think I did get a whoof of it once at the Vitamin Shoppe)
If I had just put on sanitizer or lotion I would rinse off, when handling meat. (I use Gold Bond lotion---it makes your hands icky moistury for a while).

What about hairspray? Is it harmful (not that I would use it on them!) But they sneak into the bathroom sometimes or we forget they're in there so it happens that sometimes it's sprayed around them, we try to be careful.
Does anyone know if some exposure can cause any issues?
One of my Ferret has heavy breathing in his sleep on occasion, but he just had a full workup at the vet in summer and was deemed healthy. And my one Ferret recently passed away had some minor wheezing. Could this be because of hair spray?
My Ferrets are all about 3.5 years and younger.
