I had to cull some of pinkies and fuzzies due to large litter sizes so I tried giving one fuzzy and two pinkies to the ferts. Podo didn't wake up, but Kodo came running. I drizzled a litter Ferotone on them, which all three like. Kodo has eatten half of the fuzzy and decided to start hording when Noodles came to inspect. She moved all three carcuses to the lower level in a pile. BTW, she is the one that won't eat the soupie. So, I'm happy that she likes whole prey, but what do I do about the hording?

Just saw your earlier post That would work as a starter soup. You'll want to phase out the kibble and start adding some hearts and liver/organ but otherwise it's fine

My three are lucky if they eat a full cup of kibble a day for all three. How many mice should they eat each day?

You can't base what they've eaten on kibble to what they MAY eat on raw/whole prey. But to give you an idea, my adult males ate an average of two mice at one sitting, my females usually one. The reason you can't compare the two is on raw/whole prey they have a TON more energy, so may eat accordingly.

Not to mention, they eat less overall. Full bowl of kibble at all times versus feeding twice a day which is often unfinished due to holding out for soup or lazy meals, yet still keeping all that energy throughout the day. Each one will try to hold out for specific foods also. Jack and Peanut like anything poultry (necks #1), Sprite wants mice, Tink and Zaxx prefer soup still, but enjoy chicken backs. They will let you know what they like.

Well, They seem to be content with eating whole mice. I guess the next step is trying some frankenprey. Is there a thread that shows how much of what types of meat to give at a feeding per ferret? I have a food/mouse scale (use it to monitor pregnacies) that I can use to weigh out chunks.

I read through that and ended up unsure by the end. I know the local grocery store sells beef hearts and beef liver slices. I'm going to be checking with a quail breeder on the costs of his quail. I know I can't provide 10 mice a day or even 5. I don't have my breeding set up for that at the moment. For the transition, I'm looking for one permium meal per day and kibble during the day. How does the following plan look? Will someone help fill in the amounts? Thanks.
per fert: Day 1 1-2 adult mice Day 2 ? oz. beef hearts Day 3 ? oz. muscle meat Day 4 ? quail Day 5 1-2 adult mice Day 6 ? chicken wings Day 7 ? oz. liver

What is considered a good price on frozen mice? These seem to be a bit on the smaller side, but that may be front hte squishing in the bag. I bought 50 for $20. Also, is a all mice diet healthy? Probably a 50% mice, 50% grain free kibble for now, but how does it stand the health test?

As long as you're feeding kibbles you can probably get away with a single protein..such as mice. If you want to feed mice as the night snack or meal and kibbles the rest of the time. Please remember by feeding kibbles you're not going to reap the benefits of feeding raw as you would if you were feeding whole raw ciao

I wish I could get them that cheaply!!! From my point of view that's a fantastic deal. As for your menu since they are going to be supplemented only, it's fine. Liver in that case would only be about 1oz per ferret. As for the rest of it, give them whatever they'll eat. My females eat from 1-3 oz per meal, males 2-4oz. Again, it depends on how old they are, activity levels, age, etc.

Road block. I put in 5 frozen/ thawed mice and removed the kibble last night. None of them were touched, but when the kibble was put back in they wolfed it down. Any idea why they aren't touching the mice?

Have they ever had them with fur on before? If not, they don't know what to do with them If they've not had any mice before, you may want to start with pinkies. Hopped up and mixed in with their meat. Then work up from there.
