Once again I was on evil CL, when I saw 2 more ferrets up for adoption...so I had to read.
Anyways, the girl ferret, supposedly only 14 months old, is hairless. When I texted them asking why she was hairless, they said "She was born that way"
...well, duh. But I'll assume she just stayed hairless.
Why would a baby ferret never grow her fur in?
This is just a question out of curiosity.

They are lying and she has adrenal disease. Or she had adrenal disease when they got her and they are idiots. Or they were lied to and were stupid enough to believe it. Either way I smell a lie and some unintelligent people. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt that she stayed a "pinkie" so to speak from birth.

Could she be so malnourished that she has lost her fur? I heard it has happened before.

I agree with you Katt. I just wanted to see if anything besides idiocy could have caused that. They already have someone interested in them, but they are asking $200!!!! I just hope the new owners know about ferrets.

If the new ones believe this one was born hairless, then probably not. Ugh! I hate stupid people!

I'd assume they were lying as well, I've seen all sorts of crazy excuses on craigslist as to why their ferrets are hairless and only one ad who actually straight out said the ferret was adrenal. I'd ask if the ferrets ever seen a vet and for proof. Do they have any proof of her age either? It seems like many people lie about older ferrets.

Yeah, I'm sure she was just born that way. She's probably older than 14 months old (most people lie about the ferret age), and she could either be severely starved or adrenal (or both).

Actually, kits are born with white fur. The kit pictured in my hands below is only 12 hours old (and MIGHT even be Tonto or Kachina ) There's no way a breeder, commercial or private, would sell a kit that had no fur....the bad reputation would spread like wildfire. -jennifer

I agree with Jackie *dies of cuteness* haha Anyways, oh I always read they were born hairless o.O I guess they just mean they're hairless compared to how much hair they have when theyre older? But either way, yeah, the poor little girl They also said they have no vet records...go figure.

Not too surprising. I really hate people some days I just hope she goes to someone who can actually give her the care she desperately needs.

I agree with Katt and Sherry. I hate people like that, openly. That poor sickly ferret. I've seen newborn ferrets and they're coated in a white fuzz. Either an idiot or a liar. More like both even!
