so i've been worried about my girl pebbles. she seems to get the hiccups a lot. i'm not sure if it's to be worried about or not. i posted something about this in the other forum in December and she's still getting hiccups a lot, holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medicine&action=display&thread=6376so were going to the vet to get it checked out. am i just overly worried, or is there a possibility that there is actually something wrong. because i've read a few things, that it's completely normal, but then on the other hand it's not, if it lasts for awhile. im not sure if they meant the hiccups last for hours, or if the ferret keeps getting the hiccups for a long period of time. she's 1 on march 2, if age has anything to do with it.

Does she get hiccups after she does anything in particular? Eating, drinking?

i'm not 100% sure, sometimes i think. apparently my dad saw her have the hiccups after i gave them an egg... but i'm not sure.

if they meant the hiccups last for hours, or if the ferret keeps getting the hiccups for a long period of time. Is she either or both of these?

Then I would say she is fine. Ferrets get the hiccups. I had the same thing with Koda he kept getting hiccups and I was worried until - in Heather or Jennifer's words I believe - I was told "they are just hiccupy little creatures." They will hiccup if they ate too fast, get over excited, or have been caught red handed doing something "naughty." Has she been hiccuping regularly (like daily?) since December? Or just off and on, here and there?

Yeah, I'd assume she's just fine. As long as she isn't hiccuping for hours on end.

I'm assuming she's simply eating too quickly, and ingesting air with her food. Although having it checked is not a bad idea, because she could have some sort of malformation causing her to ingest the air with her food.

she's fine. the little brat she likes to worry me although she did have lots of fun at petsmart. we took her there after, and there was a rep. for i can't remember what, and she had two ferrets, and she was awesome for helping me find things . everybody was super nice with her, and she did SUPER well, no bites at all, but there was poop on the floor.

There's ALWAYS poop on the floor when they go I'm glad she's fine, and better safe than sorry! I guess she just really likes to eat fast, then ;D
