Huck yes of course Huck has a sore on his ummmm, penis. Well actually it looks like he may have scratched it or caught it on something. It wasn't like that yesterday or this afternoon for that matter. But this is not the first time. Could he maybe be catching it on something. They have a den in their cage with a little hole cut out for them to get inside. He is a long ferret, so I'm hoping he may just catch it which is an easy fix, make the hole bigger. Has anyone ever seen something like this. Just looks like a scratch, or like he rubbed a little of the skin off. I put a little vaseline on it, like very little, and he is not licking it off.

I would go for the rub part first. If you think the hole in his den might be a bit tight, make it a bit larger and file it smooth so that you can ensure that he's not catching himself when he leaves or enters his den ciao

I made the hole bigger. It doesn't seem to bother him. He pees alright. He just likes to try and give me grey hair that little buggar. But on a positive note. Half an hour ago he passed a huge hairball. Looked just like a poo, but made up of entirely of fur. That is 4 so far.

Poor wee lad. At least he's passing them. Might he have rubbed himself on the litter box, passing these monster hairballs? ciao

WOW! 4 large hairballs. Keep that boy pooping. There's a very good chance that he is licking his tummy because his tummy is uncomfortable for hairballs. Ferts may lick or bite at their tummies if they have discomfort. And, well, his little pecker is on his belly so he may have licked it a bit too aggressively causing irritation.

At first I thought it might have been an allergy. So I changed the litter. It went away, so I thought, ok it is an allergy. Then it happened again. So not an allergy. But it could be that he rubbed it on the litterbox. The last time it healed within a day or two. It must be all it is. I'm just paranoid.

Yeah... come to think of it... he is licking his tummy alot. And the last time this happened was last year during shedding season. He passed huge hairballs last year too. He just has a hard time with them for some reason. He gets his pumpkin and his lax, and still these nasty things happen to him.

Yeah, some ferrets just seem to have issues with hairballs. Good thing you're such a good ferret momma
