Hiko is a bit skunky (adrenal issues). Yogi smells like fresh air. Sian and Pixie BOTH smell like cinnamon and maple syrup. Rula and Neera have a sweet, spicy smell that I can't quite define. Adorable group shot!

Koda smells like vanilla, fresh hay, and warm fur. I frequently have people asking me what perfume I sprayed him with (I don't spray him and rarely bathe). I've had many comments that he smells like chocolate, cinnamon, holiday spices, and the Yankee Candle store. I just smile and say "raw diet raw diet raw diet raw diet!!!!" Kenai smells warm and sweet with a bit of a funk to him. He's my messy boy who tracks through his own poop and rolls in the meat box. He smells kind of sugar cookie like I suppose...or maybe shortbread with a little cinnamon. And some funk mixed in, always the funk with that boy! ;D

I wonder if their smell will change dramatically once they're on raw. I hope Goomba smells like pecan pie without the strong musk, that way if I'm craving sweets I'll just stick my nose in his fur and *snifffff*

The smell can really change, I've noticed I think it has a lot to do with what they've been eating. Mine can, at various times, smell like spice, chocolate, flowery almost, aftershave, and an almost baby powder smell. They all have grape tail to a greater or lesser degree. My adrenal ferret Zeus has an almost burned smell to him. And yes, the smell does change that drastically on raw it can take a while though.

Penne used to smell like wet old socks.
Now she smells warm and sweet, like cake.
My cat who is also on a half raw half wet diet, smells like shreddies, always.

Ya know I have heard the vanilla, chocolate and fur smell description (thank you Laurell K. Hamilton) from a series of fantasy fiction novels. I never, ever believed it was true. But these days Artie alternates between that and cornchip/old sock and a little bit skunky. When I smell the sweet smell I always check to make sure he hasn't gotten into some chocolate somewhere. Then I thought it was 'tone that was doing it. Thank you for your gift of this site-the Fuzz thanks you too.

Kind of sweet, and almond-y.. like a bakewell tart. Sometimes funky when he decides the litter tray looks like a bed..

Roland smells like nothing you've ever smelled before but he is an intact hob in the middle of his season so all is forgiven. My girl smells like Roland because she uses him as a cushion. When she isn't around him she smells a bit popcorny.

When she isn't around him she smells a bit popcorny. Haha... I feel ya, a little bit. My Marshall babies Fenton and Fiona were just getting to where they had almost no smell except a corn chip smell, from the raw diet. But then we added Finn, who is an intact hob, to the business. Now Finn smells like a hob (pretty mild right now in the winter though), and since they all sleep in a pile, Fenton and Fiona smell like him too, only not as strong ;D
