So, I used to put frozen soup cubes right in the bowl last time I switched ferrets. But it was summer, and I think they appreciated the coldness. Now, well Vixen is not so big on the coldness. So I let it sit in the fridge. I feed her twice a day and take one out of the freezer, into the fridge and the fridge one goes in her bowl. If I forgot I put it in the microwave for a tiny bit( know it`s not good). Anyhow, I was curious, if anyone has any idea how long frozen soup cubes would last out of the freezer if I let them sit on the counter instead. They`re usually still a bit frozen when I take them out of the fridge. (That was long winded, thanks for the patience )

We're talking raw soupys right? If it's left out, I don't leave it for them longer than about 4 to 6 hours. Now, I've left soupy out all day for them, especially if the middle is still frozen. If it's already thawed, and I know I'm going to be gone all day I will put water in a bowl put another bowl (usually the bowl that their meal will be served in) in the bowl of water and put both in the freezer until frozen. Then you've got a chilled bowl to put their food in. I find that this is also handy on particularly hot days ciao

If you're going to be gone all day, why not defrost one, put it in a dish, and in a second dish, set the frozen one. By the time she's finished the first one, hopefully the second will be defrosted.

Thanks! Does defrosting in the microwave do the same as heating it?

If you use the microwave(and I've been known to do that ;D ), use 5-7 second bursts only. Check after every time, and when possible to break it up, do so. Also stir the thawed one really well so there are no hot spots.
