I might be able to get mink, beaver, squirrel, raccoon and muskrat. Are these ok to feed?

I"m not sure about feeding like animals...mink to ferrets?? , same for raccoon but??? My concern is being able to transmit disease to like preditors. I know that I've heard of muskrat, beaver and squirrel though. You will have to freeze for at least 2 weeks to a month for fear of parasites. All game should be frozen first or at least that's my understanding. ciao

I wasnt too sure about the mink or raccoon either. I definitely would not feed mink to the ferrets. So for the squirrel, beaver and muskrat can they have the whole animal? Is freezing them the only thing I would have to do before feeding it?

You may want to clean and cut them up into more edible portions...those aren't small rodents. I clean my rabbits (because they stink ) and ferrets will leave the guts and innards all over the place. Intestines make very poor decorations ciao

Believe it or not, I've eaten racoon, beaver, squirrel, and muskrat ;D Definitely freeze for a month or so with any of them. Only one I'd really be wary of is mink, simply because it smacks too much of cannibalism to me. But that may simply be a personal quirk

I think I will just pass on the raccoon and mink but if I can I will get the musk rat, squirrel and beaver.

I'm only concerned about the mink and like families because ECE is a mink disease and my concern would be diseases that could be transmitted to the fuzzies. Just me, a quirk I guess...it is a little creepy too, thinking about feeding mink ciao

The sleddoggers up here feed a ton of beaver and muskrat from the trappers, I got a bucket a muskrats once, it was disgusting to clean out (they are skinned and nothing else) and nothing in the house would touch it. If I had a grinder I would try again and feed it to the dogs if nothing else. I thought coon was a no-no for some reason but maybe I'm wrong, squirrel is fine.
