I want to make sure that Jeremy is getting a proper diet. Right now Jeremy gets 4 oz ground with bones chicken everyday and two ice cup size mix of organs twice a week.
I don't do whole prey. I'd love it if someone could outline what he should get over a weeks time for me.

To start with, he needs a minimum of 3 different proteins. So, chicken, pork, and lamb as an example. Or any of chicken, pork, turkey, beef, lamb, cornish game hen, rabbit, goose, duck, goat, etc. For the week, it should be 8-9 meals of consumable bone, 3-4 meals of pure muscle meats(no bone)- one of which NEEDS to be heart, as they need the taurine. If you cannot find heart, you must give taurine supplements. One meal should be liver and/or other organ such as kidney, spleen, lung, brain, thymus, reproductive organs, etc.

what do you think of Blue Ridges organ mix? I know it has hearts, livers and kidneys. Or do the organs need to be feed separately? I'm going to look for some after Christmas turkey sales today. Are pork shoulder roast okay for ferrets?

Personally, I'd get some heart and feed it as a separate meal. Unfortunately, the exact taurine needs of a ferret aren't known, but it is assumed they are similar to that of a cat's, since they are both obligate carnivores. I can't find an ingredient list for the organ mix, so I honestly can't say. But they need no more than 2oz(approx) of liver, and same amount other organ on a weekly basis.

I'll have to keep using the mix until I can source individual hearts and kidneys. Livers are easy.

Sounds good I'd really start trying to add in another couple of proteins as soon as you can, though.

I picked up some all natural turkeys while in town today. He has a turkey neck now but he is not that fond of turkey. I have some deer I could give him until I can get some pork but the cats get addicted to it fast so I've been hesitant to give it.
I've never noticed any hearts or kidneys in our Walmarts. There are some small southern grocery stores around here that sell just about every part of a critter so I'll check them out.
Can a ferret have pigs feet? I know I can get some of those.

Can they eat too much liver? Jeremy will eat a whole beef liver if I let him. I just wanted to know if that was ok or should I restrict it.

Gods, yes !!! Too much vitamin A can quickly lead to a toxicity. No more than 2 oz a week per ferret.

Good to know. Luckily I only gave him one whole liver so we should be ok. No diarrhea. So here is where we are with diet.
I ground up 20 leg quarter w/bone, added 4lb pork & beef, a large turkey breast.(It will be heavier on the pork next time) I have chicken & turkey necks for bone chewing. Beef liver. I'm waiting to hear when I can pick up my 30lb of beef hearts
Monday: 4oz container of mix & neck Tuesday: 4oz mix & heart(when I get them) Wednesday: 4oz & 2oz liver Thursday: 4oz mix & heart Friday 4oz mix & neck Saturday:4 oz mix Sunday: 4oz mix & neck

I'm really not very good at approximating bone percentages when in a ground mix ;D I feed whole meat/bone/organ. Hopefully Heather will have a better idea, since she does her own grind as well. But it does seem to me to be a bit light on bone.

That's way too light on bone. You're going to have to up your bone concentration. You need to raise your bone content...I would use chicken necks or backs to boost your bone in grind. Watch too, that you get enough fat, especially when feeding turkey breast grind. You would do better to grind up the dark meats rather than breast meat ciao
