Hey, so I was trimming Sian's nails tonight, and I noticed she has really dry nails. Pads are fine, coat is fine, nothing wrong - but her nails seem to splinter if you even look at them too long. So, I'm thinking upping EVOO to every day (1/2 tsp?), and would rubbing vit. E oil on/around them help at all? It's pretty bad, and any tips to help soften/moisturize them would be wonderful. Thanks, guys! And here, have a pic of my spoiled baby:

Lucrezia started getting that when she was eating all around the bone instead of actually consuming it When I started her on commercial raw where she couldn't do that, they went back to normal.

Is this the time for stuff like shrimp shells, young deer antler and more cartilage? Or am I thinking of soft stool?

Velvet antler is supposed to help with dry/brittle nails. You can find it in chews or powdered supplement. I haven't had much luck getting my boys to eat them regularly (occasionally they will nibble one) but Mustelidmusk says it has worked very well with her furbrats.

Oh, wow. Thanks for all the tips! I will definitely get some of this (she's gotten better, because I've increased the amount of cgh - the kind of bone she absolutely adores.) Apparently she was fooling me. I could stay in the room for 15 minutes and she'd crunch and eat, but as soon as I "left" (I was hiding behind the pony wall that sections off their area), she'd leave off and just eat meat until she could stash the left over bones. She was checked out by the vet, so there's no apparent medical reason for her sudden switch to not eating bone (she's usually a beast with bone), just spoiled fert-yness

That's about it That's why I'd originally started feeding commercial raw every morning til they decided they were no longer eating it, unless it was the most expensive one in the store
